Ch. 1 - Birthday

"Happy Birthday Jungkook-ah!!!" Hoseok Hyung screamed, waking me up out of a dead sleep.

I rubbed my eyes, "Huh?"

"It's your birthday, Kook! How could you forget!? Jin Hyung is making pancakes downstairs and he won't let anyone have any until you come down, so hurryyyyy!!!"

He said before walking out of my room and downstairs, with a spring in his step.

It took me a moment to process what he said, as I was still half asleep.

I was in the midst of contemplating whether or not I should just go back go bed when it clicked.

Oh! It's my 18th birthday!

That means I finally get to find out what my secondary gender is!

I hopped out of the bed with an excited grin on my face.

I basically skipped down the steps and into the kitchen where I saw my Hyungs sitting at the table, and Jin Hyung walking towards them with a tray of pancakes.

Taehyung Hyung was the first to notice my presence, "Good morning kookie!!! Happy birthday!" He said turning around and ruffling my brown hair.

I smiled at everyone before sitting down at the table beside in between Yoongi Hyung and Taehyung Hyung, who looked eager to dig into the pancakes. Jin Hyung smiled at me and sat a plate in front of me.

I said thank you before cutting into the pancakes.

I'm really nervous about getting my results today... I hope I can be a strong alpha like Taehyung, Namjoon, or Hoseok Hyung.

But I would also be proud to be a beta, like Yoongi, Jimin, and Jin Hyung.

I want to make my Hyungs proud... they're the closest thing I have in this world to a family.

Most people usually have the same secondary gender as one of their parents, but that's where I'm different.

I was raised in foster care, so I have no idea who my parents are, meaning I'm clueless as to what my secondary gender will be.

Namjoon Hyung said that physically, I show the traits of an alpha, but that my scent smells different than most alphas... I'm not really sure what he means by that.

Since I've been under the age of 18, I haven't been able to smell any scents including my own.

But today's my birthday, so my scent and senses should kick in any day now!

I can't shake off these nerves...! Aish- i need to calm down. I know my Hyung will love me no matter what.

-ngkook, did you hear me?" Jin Hyung cut into my thoughts, snapping me out of my trance.

"Sorry Hyung! I zoned out for a sec, could you repeat the question?" I asked, reaching for the bottle of syrup in the middle of the table.

"I was just asking if you were excited about getting your results today? You're appointment with the doctor is at 3:30." He said enthusiastically.

I was quick to nod my head, "I'm really excited Hyung! I hope I'm an alpha, so I can protect you all from sesaeng fans in the future!"

I had always hoped to present as an alpha so I could be strong, but I was also fine with being a beta.

Beta's can be strong too, like Jin Hyung for example. He's so strong and kind and if I turned out to be a beta like him, I would still be happy.

I'd be lucky to turn out anything like Jin Hyung, any of my Hyungs for that matter.

"That's sweet bun, but don't put too much pressure on yourself, okay? No matter what you present as, we will love you and treat you the same. Your family too,"

Right... they don't know about my childhood.

"It doesn't matter if you're alpha, beta, or omega! You'll still always be our golden maknae!"

"Thanks Hyung... but I don't think I'll present as an omega male. Those are really rare. I don't think I've ever even met an omega male." I said before stuffing a piece of pancake in my mouth.

Yoongi Hyung nodded, "True, but you never know... I went to high school with a guy who presented as an omega male."

"I guess you're right... anyways! Breakfast was delicious as always, Hyung! We should probably be getting ready for practice now." He nodded at my response and smiled as I walked back up to my room to get ready.

How could Hyung even consider that I might present as an omega, that's never gonna happen. I'm sure I'm an alpha or beta!

~Time Skip~

Practice felt painfully long, and I couldn't really pay attention to anything. I was just too excited to focus on anything else!

As soon as Jungho Hyungnim ended practice, I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked out to the van.

Once we arrived at home I took a quick shower and changed clothes.

While I was fixing my hair, I heard a knock on my door, "Hey Kooks, I'm driving you to the clinic. You about ready to go?" Jin Hyung asked.

"Yeah I'm ready!" I said before grabbing my phone and walking out with him.

Once we got downstairs, Taehyung Hyung stopped us, "Are going to the clinic??? Can I go with you guys? I wanna be there when you get your results!"

"Taehyung-ah... that's a private matter. He may want to be alone." Jin Hyung said.

I shook my head, "It's fine Hyung, he can come!"

Taehyung Hyung cheered for a moment before we all walked out of the dorm and got into the car.

I'm so excited!! I've been looking forward to this day since I was a kid!
