Sorry for the long wait! I had a few things to deal with. Now without further ado, chapter two of St. Alastairs!
Orisia POV :
I woke up with a startled yell. I had been back with Rhysand in the cold, and it had been one of the first nights after I'd joined: he'd taken me on a mission to silence some people that had been problematic to them. I closed my eyes and took several deep breaths, trying to calm my breathing and slow my heart. I looked down at my hands, which were shaking, and then I remembered where I was. My eyes widened and I looked down, afraid I'd woken someone up.
"What the hell! Are you alright Orisia?" The other girl, Reign, asked, jumping up off of her bunk with a pencil. I watched her with wide eyes. I hadn't meant to wake anyone up, I was used to it just being Cade, and he was normally gone in the mornings. "I am so sorry!" I said, my hands still shaking, so I curled them around the bed frame so she hopefully wouldn't notice. "It's alright, but are you okay?" She asked, setting the pencil down. I closed my eyes and nodded, hoping it was convincing enough. "Just a nightmare." I said with a quiet, nervous laugh. I could tell she was skeptical as she nodded, but she didn't press, which made me nearly sigh with relief. I noticed that my hands were still clenched around the bed frame and carefully removed them and put them in my lap, sitting back against the wall.
"I'm going to get changed-" She said with a yawn, "it's Saturday right?" I nodded again from my spot on the wall, still trying to calm myself down. Cade wasn't here, I wasn't with the gang, and Rhysand couldn't hurt me or my family from here. I was safe. Nothing could hurt me... right?
I bit my bottom lip, starting to worry. What would happen if Cade found out there was a boy in the dorm? Would he hurt me? I winced slightly, and I watched my hands as they started to shake again.
I was sitting on the couch when Reign came out and sat next to me. Yet another guy came in and out of Eros's room. He was so tall; he reminded me of Rhysand so much that I shrank back and clenched my hands into fists. I watched him enter the kitchen with narrowed eyes. His hair was differently colored than Rhysand's but he had the right build to be him in disguise. Reign's hand on one of my own made me jump. "Loosen up," She said, her voice soft, as though soothing a scared animal, which I may as well have been. I took a deep breath and slowly unclenched my fists, accidentally revealing that my hands were still shaking. I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the back of the couch. I heard the door open and looked up. Eros and the new guy were leaving. I curled and uncurled my hands into and from fists, trying to stop the shaking in my hands. Reign got up and said "We should be friends..-" I watched her, and she kind of reminded me of Cade before he'd started to become a bad person, so before I realized he was working with the guy who held my parents as a ransom. I closed my eyes and decided that I may as well take the chance, it wasn't as though she was anything like Cade. But she could end up betraying me... Not very likely, I looked up into her eyes, and she seemed sincere enough. I slowly nodded, cautious of what her reaction might be. "Sure." I said, and my voice was quiet, as though betraying that I wasn't sure how this would go. "Cool!" She yelled and my eyes widened as she put her hands up in victory. Alright, definitely not like Cade. I watched her with wide eyes, then cautiously smiled, but not too big of a smile as she giggled and did a victory dance on the floor.
We both went into our room and I watched her sit on the floor. I smiled slightly and closed my eyes, teleporting onto her bunk and opening my eyes again. "So~ What do you do outside of school?" I asked, wanting to get to know her more, to know if I could trust her. I could barely make out her words as she said "....gang..." I tilted my head slightly. "You're in a gang?" I asked, my eyes widening slightly. Of course, I was too, but not exactly by choice... "Mhm...." She said, sounding quite nervous. I thought for a second, I'd never seen her around, so she couldn't be human. "Unfortunately, I am too." I said, "But I've never seen you around before. What gang are you in?" I added the question at the end just to see what she was. "Tornado..' She said, shifting into myself, as a demonstration. I let out a slight yell of surprise when she turned into me. I watched as she shifted back into herself again. "What gang are you in?" She asked and I shifted uncomfortably before answering, "Hurricane.........." I muttered, still hating Rhysand for making me join, but at least he'd left my family alone.
