When Keefe had seen Sophie in her date outfit, it had been like seeing her for the first time. Not that it really mattered though, she was probably never gonna wear it again, and this probably wouldn't work out, and she would probably go running back to Fitz.
Skip forward, Keefe had just finished his third slice of mallowmelt, and looked over at Sophie. In the fading light, she looked even more beautiful than before. A strand of hair had fallen out of her braid. On impulse, Keefe reached out and tucked it behind her ear. They both blushed, and Sophie said, "I think we should maybe go, Grady will be waiting."
She got up to leave, but Keefe said, "Hey, wait a minute. Um... I, uh... I wanted to show you something." He led her part way down the mountain, hoping against hope that there was actually something worth seeing.
Fortunately, there was a lake in the valley, and they had an amazing view from all the way up there. The water was so clear that it reflected each tree on the mountain. Before he could second guess himself, he turned around, grabbed Sophie's hand, and kissed her.
It was like nothing else mattered. Everything disappeared. The birds singing, the cool breeze against his face, the last beams of light fading behind the mountain. All he needed in that moment was the feel of Sophie's lips on his, her breath on his cheeks, and the way that after a few seconds, sh kissed him back. And the world melted away.
