This is the second Inter-High of the year. Isuma technically joined the team well into the school year. (And also I didn't want to write out everything from the first Inter-High, because we don't know anything about that and I don't wanna have to guess.) So basically we know that they'll win all their games and go play Karasuno and, well... yeah, I'm gonna stop; just thinking about it makes me cry. Thank you for waiting a week :D
"Thanks, Yuto." Kita handed him his phone back. "I didn't really do anything. That was all Isuma." Yuto replied.
Akagi glanced at Isuma, who was staring at the court, her eyes empty. "Isuma-chan? What's wrong?"
She didn't answer; Kita looked over at her, puzzled. "Isuma?"
She suddenly stumbled back, starting to fall to her knees. Akagi caught her arm just in time. "Isuma!!!" "Isuma!!"
"I'm- I'm fine. It's just my head..." Isuma's hands were on her forehead; Yuto hurried over to the bench and brought back a water bottle. "Drink some water."
She managed to take a small sip, her breaths uneven. Automatically, both Akagi and Kita touched her forehead for her temperature. "You're a little warm... are you sure you're alright?" Kita asked her in concern. Akagi glanced at Yuto. "Was she like this earlier?"
"No, she was fine." Yuto shook his head. Isuma murmured, "I'm fine-"
Before she could finish, Isuma winced again, and Akagi's grip on her arm tightened. People from the stands were looking over, and so were the coaches. The players on the court seemed to know something was off, but they had no spare time to look. "There's no way you could've gotten sick so fast. And you have a slight fever." Kita touched her forehead again. "What happened to you?"
"You should sit down." Akagi helped her to the bench as Kita turned towards Yuto. "Watch the match. Make sure they don't hurry things."
The coach stood up as they approached. "What happened?"
"Her head hurts and she has a fever." Akagi answered. The second Isuma sat down, her head cleared. She was aware of everything around her, and the fuzzy noise in her ears vanished. Her vision, which had slowly been fading away, came back. The pain in her head dulled significantly and she gasped. "It's- it's gone."
"Wait, what?!" Kita's hand flew to her forehead again. "I don't believe it."
"There's no way-" Akagi touched her forehead: it was completely normal, and and any trace of a fever was gone. "What- how- did we imagine it?" He glanced at Kita, who was staring at Isuma intently. "I guess..."
The coach looked at Isuma. "Are you sure you feel better?"
"Yes." Akagi and Kita were looking at each other, communicating silently. Isuma was just as surprised and perplexed as them: what had happened to her for those three minutes? She'd just been thinking about something and then her head hurt...
"What were you doing right before your head hurt, Isuma?" Kurosu Sensei looked at her. She rubbed her forehead, trying to think properly. "I was just thinking about something."
"What, exactly? Was it stressful or confusing in any way?" The coach seemed concerned enough about her to look away from the game, and they were at set point. Isuma asked, "What do you mean?"
"Were you stressed or confused or overwhelmed, perhaps? Sometimes being overwhelmed can have sudden symptoms." Kurosu Sensei asked her. Isuma hesitated, touching her forehead. "...I don't remember."
None of them said anything, finally, Kita leaned forward until he could whisper in her ear. He softly spoke, "It's fine if you don't want to tell us, but tell your brothers, okay?"
