Time skip to here at the dinner table. It was peaceful. The mother and father and Niah was talking about how college is and how well Niah is doing. "Oh college is going well. Kinda hard but my grades are where they're supposed to be" Niah stated. "That's wonderful, dear. We're proud of you" Matthew said and smiled as he put his hand on Niah's shoulder.
"Look at them. A happy family. All I am is a waste of space. I don't belong here. They never wanted me. Their favorite child is home so they don't need me. I'm going on a walk to go let off some steam. The only good thing is I could do what I want."
"Hey, Naomi. How is school going-" "I'm gonna go out for a walk," Naomi said while getting up and going up to her bedroom cutting off Niah rudely. The parents were confused while Niah was disappointed cuz she genuinely wanted to spend time with Naomi. Niah said this time she was going to go against the stubborn sister. She only let it go because she thinks Naomi is stressed. Naomi came back downstairs in her jeans and a hoodie over her head and she put on some sneakers and headed out the door.
They watched her go out the door and slam it. "Mom, how is Naomi doing since I left?" Niah asked looking at Cicilia. Cicilia sighs. "She was okay," Cicilia said. "It looks like ever since you stepped foot back here, she went back to isolating herself from us and doesn't talk. If anything while you were gone, she was happier" Cicilia said sadly. That made Niah feel even more disappointed. It hurts to know that your own sister was happier without you.
Meanwhile with Naomi
"Why did she have to come back? Why doesn't she just leave me alone? Why doesn't she see that I don't want anything to do with her? She gets all the praise and is favored by everyone. She knows but wants to pity me. Well guess what "sister," I DON'T NEED YOUR PITY!!" Naomi yelled. She punched a wall. She sighed then leaned her head against the wall. She started crying and slid down against the wall. "You always take everything from me. You're always better than me. I hate that I am related to you.People has always favored you and left me as a second choice,"Naomi said as she cried. "No one calls me by my name. I was always known as 'Niah's sister',I hate you."
"I HATE YOU SO MUCH!!"
After about 3-4 hours of Naomi walking and ranting to herself, she was hoping Niah would be sleeping by the time she gets home because she doesn't want to see her. Her wish did not come true. Their parents were asleep but Niah was just up in the living room watching TV. Naomi opened the door quietly and tries to sneak past Niah so she didn't have to talk to her.
"Hi, Naomi!!" Niah said turning down the TV. Naomi sucked her teeth and groaned at the sound of her sister's voice. "What?" Naomi asked coldly as she turned her head towards her sister. "How have you been doing? Mother said you were happier after I left. Is that true?" Niah asked. "Yes. Indeed I was. I don't know why you came back in the first place. I got along just fine without you" Naomi said coldly and walked up the stairs to her room. Niah followed behind her. "What? So you didn't miss me at all?" Niah asked. "No. In fact, I wish you never came back" Naomi said in Niah's face and then slammed her bedroom door in her face.
This hurted Niah. What did she do wrong that her sister wishes something like this? But Niah wasn't the type of person to give up. Instead, she'll try and talk to her again tomorrow. She really loves her sister. More than herself. And she just wants to see her become successful like herself. She went to sleep with a mind full of determination to build a relationship with her sister.
The next morning
Naomi was fast asleep in her room till
"GOOD MORNING!!" Niah yells and frightens Naomi out of her sleep. "What do you want?!" Naomi yells at Niah. "I got you breakfast in bed!" Niah said giving the tray to Naomi. Naomi took the tray and threw it on the floor and stepped on it with her foot. Naomi then got up without saying anything and went to the bathroom and did her daily routine miserably. She took a shower and brushed her teeth and changed into some home clothes. "Well what are you gonna do today?" Niah asked Naomi smiling. "None of your business" Naomi said making breakfast. "Oh come on. At least tell me" Niah said.
