Close Quarters ✧ [Bucky Barnes]

Chapter 6- Home

It had been weeks since Christmas and Tony hadn't received anything from the bugs Bucky planted. I was tired, done with this mission. We came here at the start on November and now its mid-march. So I called up Rachel for coffee to see what I could do.

"Thanks for meeting with me" you said in a fake sad tone.

"Oh anything of course... are you okay Amy?"

"Well... I have to drop out of college."

"What?! But you love that course!"

"I know, I really do. Not enough money is coming in and its pushing me and Derick apart" You begin to shed a few fake tears to really sell it to her.

"Ok look. Amy I would consider you one of my best friends and I wanna help you out. Come with me"

She brings you to the book store where she took you to a fake wall. She pushed it open to reveal her whole operation. 

"Ross and I partner with an organisation called HYDRA. We manufacture weapons from alien technology to help the wipe out the Avengers. We make tens of thousands each day from living in this disgusting old town. I want you to join us."

You stood there for a moment, you had just done it. You had taken them down.

"Tens of thousands you said? Oh I'm in.''

Rachel and Ross grinned at me.

"Meet us here at 4:30 and we will tell you everything okay?"

"Deal.. Derick will ask questions, what do I tell him?"

"Say Rachel gave you a job opportunity and it pays well. You can't disclose things till its all finalised but now you can stay at college"

"Thank you so much Rachel, I think you just saved my marriage"

"I'll walk you out."

She walked me to the front of the store, hugged me and then sent me on my way. I waited till I was a good bit away from the store till I called Tony.

"Hey good to hear from you what's up"

"I may have walked into the entire operation and gotten A LOT of intel and am apparently joining HYDRA."

"WHAT!"

"I went to Rachel, said all these depressing things about money and my broken marriage. She called me her best friend and showed me it all. They manufacture HYDRA's weapon. So tomorrow at 4:30, I go back to 'join them". I wanna finish this tomorrow. Send in a strike team at 4:47. Were finally getting them"

"You are literally genius. Well I guess we shall be seeing you soon!"

"Call Bucky and let him know. We can't speak of it."

"I'll do that. See you tomorrow (Y/N)"

You arrive home to Bucky sitting on the sofa. He leaps up when you come in.

"So it's true?!"

I smiled and nodded at him. He ran over and hugged me and then hugged Sadie. Then it hit me. This was it. Bucky and I no longer had to pretend to be married. The thought of leaving it all behind upset me. I looked down at my bracelet. I never seem to go anywhere without it. I cooked what Bucky called 'Our Last Supper' and watched your final movie. I laughed and giggle as normal and went to bed. It was the middle of the night and I still hadn't been able to sleep. I went down to get a drink of water and try calm myself down. This was for the best, I had to keep telling myself . I was starting to believe it, until I heard a voice.

"Hey (Y/N), what's wrong?"

"Oh, I'm fine just can't sleep."

"You could have woke we, I wouldn't mind. I was scared when I woke up and you weren't there. Come on back to bed"

He wrapped his arm around me and lead me back up the stairs. I lay down on the bed and he hugged me from behind. The whole night he never once let go of me. 

Soon enough it was time. I got ready to leave for the meeting when I was about to leave, Bucky's worried look caught my eye.

"Hey, I'll be fine don't worry about me."

"Just... promise me you'll come back and that you'll be safe"

"I swear I'll be back"

He wasn't convinced as I walked out the door. I went back to the bookstore from yesterday and met Ross and Rachel.

"So Amy your joining us" the now confident Ross approached me.

"I thought you were shy?"

"I'm good at hiding who I am when I'm making a lot of money for it"

"That is a good point."

"Now lets run through the plan for a shipment we send out in 2 days, Amy you will-"

Theres a blast through the wall and the three of you fall to the ground. You see Tony, Steve, Thor, Wanda and Nat through all the tumble.

"How the hell are they here" Amy yells out.

"Sorry kids the party's over" Tony says.

Ross and Rachel try to run but are surrounded.

"Well, you were right Rachel, this is an awful town"

"What? If we're going down she is too!"

"Ye, I've been undercover for the past 5 months. I find you exhausting"

Just as I was about to walk away, Ross gets loose and pulls out one of his guns. He points it at my head and keeps me in a tight head lock. He was chocking you.

"Let us go or I blow this bitches head to bits!" He roar at everyone.

Just then, you fall to the ground, gasping for air. Ross was laying there unconscious with blood coming from the back of your head.

"Don't you dare hurt my fake wife" 

It was Bucky. He had come and saved me from getting my brains splattered all over the wall.

"I thought we were being safe" He said as he helps me off the ground.

"Thank you Buck" 

You pulled him in for a hug before making your way over to see your friends. You run to them and explode with how much you missed them and thanking them for their gifts. Steve made his way over to see his best friend.

"Lucky to see you didn't kill (Y/N)" he joked.

"Why would I do that?"

"Cause you hate each other..... you do hate her don't you Buck"

"I could never hate her"

Bucky walked over to the rest of the group leaving Steve a bit confused. You decided to bring Nat and Wanda back to your house to gather your things. You unlocked the front door and let the inside.
