-Lauren's POV-

I let myself into the home of my girlfriend, dragging my feet after a long day of stroking the egos of some of Hollywood's elite musicians. All I wanted was to kick up my feet, relax and forget another day in my so called office.

So when my girlfriend, Demi, texted asking me to come over, I jumped at the opportunity. We've been dating for just over a year but recently I feel like we've started to drift apart. Our love is still strong but it's hard to find time for just the two of us. We both have hectic schedules in the music industry so it's hard to work around song writing, recording, meetings and tours.

A little background on me, my name is Lauren 'Kittens' Abedini and I'm a DJ/music producer. Demi and I met when her manager asked me to produce one of the songs on her latest album and we instantly hit it off. We tried to keep our relationship out of the public eye but after six months together, paps caught us lip locking after a random party. We decided to just put it all out there after that.

Our fans were over the moon and almost overnight hundreds of 'Lauremi' ship accounts popped up. Demi and I both followed a few on Instagram and stalked a few others from time to time. It's always fun seeing what they think of us. Yeah there's some hate but most of it is love.

Demi released her album about a month ago so she's been flying around the world promoting it, doing interviews and photo shoots. It's been a strain on our relationship but I couldn't be happier for her. Her music is so important to her and I completely get that because I feel the same about my career.

Walking into the dark quiet house, I automatically reach for the light switch in the hallway. I've been here a thousand times; I could probably make my way around in the dark. The odd thing is, Demi said she would be here by now except the only ones greeting me are her dogs Batman and Ella.

I reach down and ruffle their fur before they decide that they've had enough of me and walk back to their doggy beds. Damn, I can't even get a little love from them. I thought dogs were supposed to love you no matter what. So much for that.

Flipping on a few more lights, I call out to Demi knowing that I won't get a response. The dogs' heads perk up at the mention of her name but then they plop back down when they realize that she's not here. "She's probably running late" I say out loud to them.

I walk over to the fridge and start taking out some stuff to make dinner. I decide on a simple pasta dish that I can make in less than 30 minutes; hopefully she'll be home by then. Making quick work of it, I have it all done in 25 minutes and give myself a pat on the back. Leaving it all in the pot to stay warm, I grab a soda and flop down on the couch to wait.

After another 30 minutes, I get impatient and decide to send Demi a text asking her where she is. I wait a couple of minutes but don't get a response. I can't say I really expected one either. I scroll through my contacts and call my best friend, Steph.

"Hey bitch!" she screeches as I hold the phone away from my ear.

"Hey ho! Ya miss me?"

"Nah, I could have done with a couple more days without your annoying ass" she jokes. I roll my eyes even though she can't see me.

"So what's new? Have you managed to trick Connor into moving in with you yet?"

"No, unfortunately not." I can hear her pout through the phone. Steph and Connor have been dating for almost two years and she's been hinting at moving in together but he's too dumb to notice.

"Steph, you know how thick he is; you have to just come out and say it."

"Oh he's thick alright. Reeeallll thick, if ya know what I mean" she says with a husky voice.
