"At the back of the room is a pile of everyone's drawings from before break from when I asked you to draw what you thought you would spend most of your holidays doing. I want you to go and find your drawing and draw a new picture about what you actually did the most. Then we will compare everyone's."

My whole body ached and I had to force myself off the bedroom floor this morning. Half of my body was laid on top of the fluffy rug that sat in the middle of the bedroom and the other half was pressed to the cold floorboards. I couldn't even express my discomfort because Will's snoring body was wrapped in the black sheets.

It was harder to hide at the start of terms like this because everyone was supposed to be well rested from the break. But I had to persevere for the kids.
Once the pencils hit paper, the room became quieter and I was able to have a moment of peace.

"You're lucky to have someone like me. Cause if you were on your own, you would be nothing!"
"Fuck you. Your fucking messy self does nothing but makes my life harder."
"What, you don't like when I spit at you? You actually think you're more than a piece of trash? Pathetic."
"You're all big and strong and fighting back until you're on the bathroom floor, Miss Cook. What's up with that, huh?"

Time really flies when your mind is stuck on a constant loop of painful words and violent images, lunch came around a lot quicker than I was probably prepared for. My energy was low today and I still had to be there as moral support for Harry due to the storm raging outside. Mental exhaustion was worse than physical because once the brain has had enough, that's it.

I scrolled through the emails on my phone as I made my way up the hallway towards the staffroom, lunch in hand. I threw two pieces of bread in a zip lock bag and I had just planned on toasting them with some butter on top. I entered the sitting area and a mouthwatering smell came from the kitchen area. Someone had a delicious smelling lunch and I was immediately jealous. After smelling the food warming in the other room, I just knew my below adequate lunch would not be satisfying in the slightest.

I made my way into the kitchen area to toast my bread but I stopped once I saw Harry at the microwave. He had just turned towards the door as I was walking through. I gave him one of the awkward smiles you give someone you pass in the supermarket and made my way to the fridge to get the butter. He had a plate in his hands of lasagne and I instantly knew it was his lunch that I was envious of.

I reached over to plug in the toaster and heard the microwave beep behind me. Harry cleared his throat and I instinctively looked over my shoulder at him. My eyes almost popped out of their sockets when they glanced at him and my heart started racing.

"If you ate one of those fucked up lunches in front of me again, I might have vomited." He held two plates of lasagne in his hands, one obviously meant for me.

"I- what? You didn't ha-. I can make my ow-" Why was I incapable of forming one whole sentence. The kind gesture after the night I had endured was too much for my brain to deal with.
