She sighs, tapping her pen on the table, impatient for the class to end.
"Ms. Williams, stop making that noise with your pen, please," the professor says, without even turning around. How did he know it was me?, the girl asks herself.
"S-sorry," she stutters out. Ugh, I just wish class time ends already! Just when she's thinking about that, the bell rings, indicating the end of the day. That's weird, she says to herself.
"One more thing before you go," the professor says. "For homework you'll have to do pages from 50 to 60," he announces. Everybody groans in response. "Just because you've complained, you'll have to do five more pages," he states. We open our mouths to protest again. "You wanna have more homework?," he asks.
"No, Mr. Montgomery," the whole class answers.
"That's what I thought," he mumbles under his breath, raising an eyebrow. "Okay, you can go now," he says. Everyone rushes through the door. He adds, "Homework is due on Wednesday, you have two days"

The girl walks with her backpack hanging from one shoulder.
"Sarah! Wait for me!," her friend Alice calls.
"Alice! I didn't see you, sorry," she calls back and stops her pace. Alice is on the same grade as Sarah but takes classes from another classroom.
"Wassup?"
"Nothing much. Mr. Montgomery sent us fifteen pages of homework"
"Fifteen? That's insane!!"
"We're talking about Mr. Montgomery here, don't forget that," Sarah chuckles.
"When do you have to hand it in?"
"On Wednesday"
"Well damn," Alice sighs. "Well, Mr. James, my class's professor, sent us only one page due tomorrow"
"You can't complain about it"
"I won't," she shakes her head. "Wanna come to my place so that we do our homework together?," she adds.
"No, thank you. I'll be better off alone in my room"
"Okay then. If you change your mind, gimme a call, mkay?," she smiles.
"Will do," Sarah nods. They both get out of the building, kiss both of their cheeks and go different ways. "Bye!," she calls.
"Bye-bye!!," Alice calls back. "See ya tomorrow!"

Sarah arrives at her house and rolls her eyes when she sees her stepmother's silhouette on the opened door.
"Hello," she greets without any enthusiasm. She goes up the stairs and heads to her bedroom, closing the door behind her. She sighs, exhausted. I don't wanna do homework now, she thinks, but if I don't do it now, then when? She sighs again and takes out the book from her bookshelf. Okay, page 50... here it is, she spots it. "Let's do this shit," she grunts to herself.

Hours pass by, and Sarah finishes her homework at 9 o'clock. She crawls to her bed and cuddles with Launcelot, her teddy bear. She won't go to sleep, not yet anyway. Staring at her ceiling, she sighs. Out of boredom, she jumps out of her bed. Imma tidy up my room, she thinks, it's a mess!

And so, she rummages through her stuff. She finds a written sheet of paper, which was obviously written by her when she was 7-8 years old.

Dear future me, it says, if you ever feel tired or just want to get out of this cruel world, just say your right words. It finishes there. "My right words? What the hell? What are those?," she mutters to herself, turning the sheet around to see if there was something else written. "Eh, whatever. Magic ain't real anyway, it's for kids. I don't believe in that crap, not anymore," she shrugs.
"Sarah!," her stepmother's voice calls.
"What?," she shouts, annoyed.
"Dinner's ready. Could you please bring Toby with you?," her stepmother asks. Oh, right. Toby. Everything's about Toby now, Sarah says to herself. Me? Jealous? Nah. Okay, maybe a little bit.
"Okay," she grunts. She heads to her baby brother's bedroom and picks him up from his crib, not so gently. "Dinner time," she tells him, rather annoyed. She carries him downstairs and puts him on his chair. She then sits down.
"How's college going?," her father questions.
"Fine," she snaps. She sees him rolling his eyes.
"We're going to the park with Toby. Would you like to come?," he continues. Sarah shakes her head. "Okay, then. We'll be back around midnight," he sighs.
"Alright"

They finish eating dinner and —except for Sarah— head to the park. When they had already gone, she sighs in relief. I have all the house for myself, she smirks.
"Now," she mutters to herself. "What shall I do?" Of course, she could study for her upcoming tests, but that doesn't seem like the biggest plan to her. To her surprise, she soon finds herself rummaging through her books and stuff, looking for one book in particular — Labyrinth. She shakes her head. You don't believe in that stuff, remember?, a voice inside her head says. But curiosity soon wins that inner battle. She opens the book and skims through its text. "Here!," she suddenly says. Then, out of a mixture of curiosity and boredom, she starts to intone.

"Goblin King!
Goblin King!
Wherever you may be, take me far away from here"

Nothing happened. "Well, I guess I just wasted my time," Sarah says, sighing resignedly. She was close to giving up, but she heard the window creak open. "It's probably the wind," she reasons. "Magic is for kids, anyway. It doesn't exist," she turns her head away from the window, to continue tidying up her room.
"You could've asked me that a long time ago, y'know...," a voice says. She whips around to see whose voice it was. It was his.

yes, yes... Ik this is shorter than my non-existent dick xD. BUT there'll be more coming on the next chapter, so stay tuned!
