As she steps outside the chamber she had just been, she sees that she is already in her room. She looks at the clock on the nightstand. It's almost midnight, and her father, stepmother and Toby would be coming back home any minute now. She sighs. "Wow," she reflects. "I'll never say that magic doesn't exist anymore." She thinks about what Jareth told her. "How would I ever be able to come back there, anyway?" She hears the front door opening. Shoot, they're here, she says to herself. She pretends to be sleeping, as she didn't want her stepmother to talk to her.
"Sarah?" her voice calls. Sarah doesn't respond, but hears her bedroom's door being opened. She grunts to herself. She didn't invite her to come in, did she? "Oh, you're asleep," her stepmother whispers. Sarah hears steps fading away and the door closing. She smirks to herself, suppressing a giggle. She sits on her bed and taps it with her fingers. She sees a blue light coming from her fingertips. "What the hell is this?" she mutters to herself, looking at her hands more closely. Yes, there's light coming from them. "This is... so strange." She shakes her head. "No, I must be hallucinating. This can't be happening..." She shakes her hands and jumps in frighten. A bubble has formed in her fingertips. "What's this?" She begins to freak out.
"Ah," a voice says from behind her. "So you've discovered your new powers, I see." Sarah whips around. As she figured, Jareth is there.
"Missed me much?" she smirks, folding her arms on her chest.
"Kinda, yes."
"How do you know about this?" she asks in a whisper.
"Well, er... when we um...," he scratches the back of his neck. "Well, did what we did... I saw your hands light up," he shrugs.
"Oh," Sarah simply says. "Alright... and how does this work?"
"You'll see."
"Oh, okay then." As soon as she says that, Jareth vanishes. Sarah sighs. "Okay then," she whispers to herself. "Time to go to bed," she adds and goes to bed. "I'll try it tomorrow."

Sarah wakes up the next day with her mouth dry. Had she dreamed it all? It could be. But it seemed so real at the same time... She sighs and sits on her bed. "Time to face the day," she mutters to herself. Dressing herself, she groans, as she remembers she has to see her stepmother's face—again. Sarah wishes her stepmother could just leave her alone—she was old enough to decide what to do with her life. Sarah looks at her reflection on the mirror. She's wearing a cream-colored shirt with long sleeves and a blouse with golden threads adorning it. Memories of what happened the day before flood her mind. Especially the part in which Jareth said, "It's only forever, Sarah. It's not long at all." What if she lived there forever? Getting away from the horrid person she has for a stepmother is a tempting idea for her. But on the other hand, she would miss Alice a lot. There's another argument against it—what about her studies? Definitely, there aren't any colleges in Goblin City.

She decides she would write down the pros and cons of living in Goblin City forever. On the «pros» side she puts «getting away from my stepmother». On the «cons» side she writes «falling out of college» and «missing Alice». She sighs. "Why are decisions so hard to make?" she asks herself. For now, the «cons» are winning. With a yelp of frustration, she bangs the table with her fist.
