I figured I should explain a bit where I got the idea for this OC, how I decided she was possible, etc.
So first off, I've been coming up with quirk ideas, OCs, and AUs for basically the entire second half of 2020. I've been watching animatics, cmvs (cosplay music videos) and bnha/mha theories on Youtube. I've been reading fanfics and AUs on Wattpad, Fanfiction.net, and Archive.com. I've kind of become a crazy yet minuscule fan just over quarantine. Before quarantine, I'd never read a manga or watched an anime.
I think that Dabi has always been my favorite villain/vigilante, and his awesome quirk with crazy drawbacks was/is interesting to me. I've always been obsessed with creating polar opposites to book characters, and probably a month or two after watching the Villain Deku Animatic below, I started thinking of ways to make an OC that was a sort of ally/friend to Dabi. I liked how Galaxy.Angelina (the creator of the video) gave Deku a quirk that was similar to Dabi's, and I especially like the scene at 2:31 where Dabi and Deku lit the trees on fire with a fist bump. (I probably rewatched that scene a dozen times)
I found myself trying to create a vigilante/villain female with white hair to contrast Dabi's black hair. Where Dabi had blue flame (supposedly hotter and more powerful than endeavor's) I gave my OC red ice that was supposed to be colder than Rei and Shoto's ice. I remembered that when you touch really hot material, it sometimes feels so hot that for a split second it feels cold. So I made Cryonics's ice so cold that it could burn her opponents. Where Dabi/Touya had his mother's cold disposition and was easily burned by his fire, I gave Cryonics Endeavor's high tolerance for heat but weakness to cold. She has frostbite around her face and arms, including one spot so severe that she's missing half her pinky on her left hand (see the unfinished drawing of her down below :D)

But after creating this character and her quirk, I realized I'd made a mistake I tend to make a lot - I completely forgot about a backstory. I'd already decided that she was going to be a fifth Todoroki sibling and that most of her family didn't know she existed, but I had to figure out how that all came about. Since she was the youngest, she'd have to be after Shoto. But for the family to not know she existed, as I intended, she'd probably have to be born after Rei was sent to the mental hospital. I still haven't decided if
A.) Rei put her up for adoption because she didn't want Enji to know she had another kid,
or
B.) Somehow (this part is almost definitely not realistic) Cryonics was taken from Rei's body as a fetus and Rei doesn't know that she still exists. Probably going with option A.
