I walked off to the northern gate, and exited the village. I followed the path up to the mountain, the towering clock tower of the Scarlet Devil Mansion looms on my left.
The lights there were still on, unlike back at the village where it is complete darkness, only lit by the dusk sun.
But now the sun is setting, and the moon slowly rises, and everything begins to get dark. I quickened my pace into running, avoiding groups of those crazed people, and I reached the hill where the Moriya Shrine stood on top.
I climbed up the hill, finding nothing out of the ordinary until I finally reached the shrine grounds. There are also coffins strewn around the courtyard, and some notes left on the ground.
I picked one up, and read it.
"My research has finally concluded it. The blood and other bodily fluids from this Shrine Maiden, and her goddess contained healing properties, and boosts up magical powers. I need to discuss about this with Ms.Knowledge... Signed, Okazaki Yumemi."
That name again, looks like she is a prime suspect in this incident. I haven't seen her around however.
Loud howls can be heard afterwards. I looked around for the source, but luckily they might have been far. The door to the main shrine building is open and I let myself in, putting off my shoes. I may be a rebellious ordinary Magician, but I still have my sense of decency.
Upon entering, I see a figure kneeling down in front of the shrine's altar. The figure held a small amulet which bears the mark of the shrine, and seems to be in a horrible condition judging from her whimpering.
"Uuuhh... Ex... Excuse me?"
I tried to walk closer, until suddenly her body jerked up, and her mouth opens, revealing her teeth mutating into fangs, and her body structure forcibly extends itself until it resembles the beast I saw back at the village gate.
Her hat flew off from her blonde hair which grows into an inhuman length, as her nails extends themselves into claws.
She turned around, and looked at me with fear in her eyes. I readied my broom-spear as she then howled in melancholy. It was then I know who she was, on the remnants of her white shirt which is all nearly torn apart is a small name tag.
Chiyuri Kitashirakawa, Professor's Assistant
A couple of deer like ears, and Oni horns then sprouted out from the top of her head as she tears up making sad whimpers here and now.
I need to put this poor soul out of her misery. I don't know her, but no human should deserve to end up being a beast like this.
I approached her, ready to thrust my broom-spear when she shrieked and swiped one of her huge hands around the room, smashing me over to the wall.
Pulling out the Mini-Hakkero, I waited for her next strike which is a hammering punch from her gigantic fist.
I shot a laser just in time, and she recoiled from the sudden shot in her chest. I approached her, and thrusted the entire shaft of my broom-spear into her eye, before pulling out letting a fountain of blood spraying my body, soaking me in the process.
I smiled a little at the sight of the beast's blood, as it then got back up, and retreated over to the altar, holding it's amulet. The amulet bathes her in a warm light, and I widened my eyes as I knew that it's healing magic.
Quickly, I threw the broom-spear over, pinning her hand over to the altar, before I dashed forward and I plunged my hand onto the hole which once housed her eye. A second later, I pulled out parts of her brains out of it and the beast screams in agony before falling down, exploding in a white light which disintegrated it.
I looked at my blood soaked hands, and I licked the blood off them. Is this what Sumireko felt back then? Why is it so intoxicating?
As the Hakkero loads up the Magic Echoes from the slain beast, I lost myself in the taste of the blood on my hands. Surely, there's no way a horrid beast like her can have something as intoxicating as this!
I laughed heartily, as night completely falls, and the full moon rises up to the sky.
