My First Crush

"Hey Avy. Wassup?" Jess said as she walk up to me.

"Nothin much. You?"

"Eh. The usual. So... you wanna sit together?"

"Why not? It IS the last day of school... might as well go all out right?" I said sarcastically.

My friend, Jessica Stone, and I have been going to school together since i moved to Colorado a little more than 8 years ago. We have been the best of friends since then. We were both about 6 when we met each other. She was actually my first actual friend EVER. In California i didnt really have any friends. They were more like... acquaintances... or crayon stealers. Ah crayons... kindergarten... juice boxes. Those were the days. But not anymore.

Today was the last day of 10th grade. This year was full of tests and exams. Not to mention those impatient, rude, nasty looking "things" they called teachers. I cant WAIT to get out of here and go to the pool. Thats where Jess and i spend most of our time during the summer. The rest of the time we are usually napping. Thats something we share a love of. Ah naps. Reminds me of kindergarten all over again. I cant wait for summer to sweep me off my feet outside school and take me on a ride for the next 3 months that id never forget. Im just counting down the minutes to when that bell will ring in last period signaling that its officially summer.

"Um, Avy? Are you alright?" Jess said, waking me up from my wonderful daydream. "You havent said anything for like 2 minutes and youve been staring at the clock like your trying to make it go faster" she giggled.

"Oh um... yeah, i was just thinking about what im going to do when school is over." I said, still trying to get back to reality.

"Oh! I know! You should come over to my place! Then we can watch Avengers or something..." she said smiling. The avengers is one of her altime favorite movies. Next to Red Dawn of course. But thats because Josh Hutcherson is in it who shes IN LOVE with. I barely know anything about him except for the fact that he looks like one of our friends.

"Yeeaahhh...... sure, like thats gunna happen." I said, rolling my eyes. I dont get the whole avengers thing. Im not much of a marvel, or whatever that is, fan. I like the classic Napoleon Dynamite and Princess Bride.

"Hey, cant blame me for trying right?" She said.

Right then the teacher came in.

"Alright you little pains. Get in your seats. Just because this is the last day of school doesnt mean i stop teaching." He yelled.

" ... as much as id like too quit..." he mumbled.

When the teacher's mouth starts moving i start zoning out. I decided to go back to day dreaming instead. I cant wait to leave this place...
