My First Crush

Chapter 2

I was having a really nice daydream until i heard a little "pst!" That woke me up right away. Of course it was Jess. She was passing me a note. I opened it up and read it, hiding it from the teacher's view.

"Hey! Im bored with this class. So wassup? We are having the Christopher's over tonight for dinner. The kids see it as an end of school 'party'. Whatever. So what are you guys doing?"

I just stared at the name "Christopher" for a while. I had a little secret about the oldest kid. He was our age and works with Jessica during their summer job. He also goes to this school although i never see him except for at lunch. Sadly, i didnt have any classes with him. Anyways, they apparently have been friends since they were in 6th grade. That was before he moved to a different school and i moved to this one. He also has a little sister, Cammeron, that ive been really good frirnds with for a while. He was a little taller than me, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, oh and ive had a crush on him for atleast 6 months. But Jess didnt know that.

Once i came to my senses again i wrote back.

"Yeah. I zoned out a long time ago. Thats cool. I wish i could come :( idk. We might find someone to invite over."

I slid the paper back to her. Once the teacher looked away she opened it in her textbook so it was like she was reading the assigned task. I wish i had thought of that. Not too long after i gave it to her i got it back.

"Lolz. Yeah i wish you could come too. We would have so much fun! You know, you, Adam and i. We are probably gunna play pool then watch a movie after dinner."

We kept passing notes back and forth the whole class period. I dont remember much about what we talked about. Mostly her dinner plans and plans for the summer. But then eventually, i dont know how we got onto the topic, we were talking about Kyle, her crush, and how he lives so far away.

"Im glad Adam lives close by though so i have SOME guy friend." She writes, "but i get to spend a lot of time with kyle because i hang out with his sisters."

"Yeah. Atleast Adam lives in my neighborhood which is better than your situation."

I didnt realize how obvious my statement was until AFTER i passed back the note. Ugh! WHY did i just blow my secret?! Im hoping she doesnt notice. I get the note back. Im pretty sure she got the 'hint'.

"Yeeaahh... why does it matter so much that he's closer than Kyle?" Uh oh. Shes onto me. She always starts asking questions when shes suspicious. What have i gotten myself into?!

"Uhh... because... he is your friend and its better to have a friend thats close and a crush that isnt than the other way around." Man, i was a bad liar.

She didnt buy it. "*gasp!* You have a crush on Adam dont you?!"

"I never said that. I was just telling you how lucky you are to have the best guy friend ever just down the street." I did it again! Why do i keep digging myself farther into a hole?!

But then i got the note back that all she wrote was a 'D'.

"Whats the D mean?"

"E"

Are you spelling something? Cuz if you are just SPIT IT OUT!"

"N"

"Gaaahhh!!!!! Just write it!" I was getting frusterated.

"I"

"Fine... i'll just wait for you to spell it all out..."

"A"

"Keep it comin..."

"L." Im guessing that was the end of it.

"Denial? Or Lained? What the heck is lained?"
