While the two groups were fighting, you had a mental debate. If you entered the fight, things would wrap up pretty quickly and no one will have their character developments, and Issei won't have PTSD because of Raynare. But, if you don't interrupt and let them do their thing like the canon, Issei would get a bit more powerful, so a strong Issei is equal to less shit you have to do...
