Julian sometimes thought it would be easier to run away. To find a place with his mother and sister where he's just him and not some legacy he doesn't want, but even if he could, there are too many people he couldn't leave behind. He could betray them the way Sirius did his family, he's going to be better. He's going to be the best, no matter what it takes. Because more to him-more to everyone he loves- than what meets the eye and its time the world sees it. And even when he has nothing left to give, even when he can't walk, he'll do whatever it takes to save them, crawling.
Mia wonders if she'll drop the weight of the world that's resting on her shoulders. She doesn't remember picking it up, she doesn't remember when she became used to being dragged down, but it's been there as long as she can remember. But she can't let it go, all she has in the world is brother and if never living means he's alive and he gets to live- it doesn't seem like a bad trade. So while the rest of the world could be in her hands if she just had a little more trust, it seems there's nothing here for her. Maybe it just takes the right people to convince you to live.
Maybe family is different than we think, maybe it's not given or something we make but both. Maybe some things are meant to be but only in a different universe and in this, things came out wrong. But some things are certain. A war is coming and if the adults trust the wrong people, the children end up fighting the war instead and they shouldn't have to. They shouldn't know what it means to be broken on the floor but they always end up living it, somewhere.
Also, Mia and Julian have a quick question. Why the fuck is this happening to them? Couldn't it have been anyone else?
