All anyone could talk about for weeks was how Harry Potter and Ron Weasley defeated the troll. Julian, for the first time in his life, found himself agreeing with Draco Malfoy. Enough was enough, it was November. The Quidditch season had begun, the Gryffindor versus Slytherin match was coming. It was truly time for the people of Hogwarts to move on.

As Pansy Parkinson said, there are more important things to discuss.

Pansy hadn't shut up about the match all week. It was a big game, Slytherin versus Gryffindor games were always big but this was even more important. If Gryffindor won, they would move up into second place in the house championship. Slytherin needed to gain even more of lead, to remind everyone who had won the House Cup for seven years in a row. Or at least thats what Pansy says.

Julian doesn't think he cares that much about Quidditch. He's good enough in Flying Lessons to not have to try too hard and still get the grades he wants.

By eleven o'clock the whole school seemed to be out in the stands around the Quidditch pitch. Many students had binoculars. The seats might be raised high in the air, but it was still difficult to see what was going on sometimes. She sat right next to Pansy and Theo, which unfortunately meant with earshot of Draco Malfoy. Who kept repeating the same thing.

"As a surprise for Potter, the Gryffindors had painted a large banner on one of the sheets. It says Potter for President, and Thomas, had done a large Gryffindor lion underneath. Then Granger had performed a charm so that the paint flashes different colors." Malfoy says, over and over again.

Julian didn't quite get why he was so upset. It's a banner, not that big of a deal.

Pansy told him to shut up when he voiced this though.

When each team walked out onto the field, they were met with loud cheers. Madam Hooch was refereeing. She stood in the middle of the field waiting for the two teams to gather around her, her broom in her hand.

"Now, I want a nice fair game, all of you," she said, once they were all gathered around her.

Julian noticed that she seemed to be speaking particularly to the Slytherin Captain, Marcus Flint, a fifth year. Cora and Flint were Slytherin prefects. Julian has no clue how Flint was made prefect though. He wasn't the brightest kid in Slytherin, in fact unless it was about Quidditch, he was at like first year level.

"Mount your brooms, please."

Madam Hooch gave a loud blast on her silver whistle.

Fifteen brooms rose up, high, high into the air. They were off. "And the Quaffle is taken immediately by Angelina Johnson of Gryffindor -- what an excellent Chaser that girl is, and rather attractive, too --"

"JORDAN!" "Sorry, Professor."

Lee Jordan, was doing the commentary for the match, closely watched by Professor McGonagall. Julian had heard enough from Asteria to know Lee Jordan was tolerable, nicer than the Weasley twins but that wasn't saying much.
