The not so bright summer went by moderately slow, now being the beginning of August kids were preparing for this school year.

I was sitting in my room, staring at my off white colored ceiling as music softly played on my phone beside me. I've always thought school was boring, I've surpassed everyone for years at my high school. Which honestly doesn't say exactly that much since this part of town's book smarts is almost complete shit but I'm still proud of myself nonetheless.

There are so many fights in this part of town it's hard for anyone to focus on school, also the fact that many of us have dropped out by my age having to deal with jobs and families, somehow I manage to handle two jobs and school life. Feeling the buzz of my phone took me out of my thoughts as I turn and grabbed the device to see who's calling me.

It was Taehyun. Of course, I'd answer.

"Jun come over," that's all he said before the 'Call Ended' sign showed brightly on my phone screen. I sighed and stood up, the red head's not the type to talk long on the phone. I stretched slightly before putting on my old black sandals and leaving the house.

It takes a little while to get to Taehyun's house from mine; he lives in the safer part of this side of town which is very beneficial for them no one wants to be on the very bad side of town.

That's where I stay anyway,

When I got to his doorstep the door was already unlocked I loudly let myself in, that's how they can tell it's me and not some rando. I took off my sandals at the entrants. I'd usually hear loud banter in the house, but it was quiet all throughout the big one-story home.

I started to feel anxious as I slowly walked to their living room, when it's this quiet it either meant a loved one got hurt or died and I didn't need to hear about either of those. Taehyun knows this so why would he call me? I thought as I walked into the room to see everyone sitting on the long light brown couch now looking at me with the brightest yet nervous eyes I've ever seen.

By everyone I mean Taehyun, his mother his stepfather, and Sky.

I looked around the room cautiously noticing the stack of papers that were laid down on the coffee table, "What's up," I say trying to ease off what felt like uneasy tension in the room.

Taehyun's mother looked up at me, her light brown eyes seemed like they were almost sparkling. "Come sit down sit down I have news!" She said cheerfully patting the seat next to her. I slightly smiled at her exciting attitude and gladly walked towards the seat sitting down. Though glancing back at the papers made the anxiety feeling in my gut spike up.

I'm guessing she could tell my uneasiness as she picked up the papers and handed them to me. I took them into my hands nervously before reading what the first paper had to say,

Congratulations! Through great analysis, we will be accepting you, Choi Yeonjun into Crowning High School of the Arts!

That's all I had to read before I turned to Mrs. Kang in confusion, "What the hell is this?" I said towards her making her hit my shoulder lightly. I said a quick sorry knowing that she's always been the type to lecture me and my "bad" mouth.

Though I genuinely was confused, CHSA was filled with students who are from the Crowning, the perfect part of town. Why would I, a poverty-stricken teenager that can barely get food by the end of the week be chosen to go to this school of all places? Not to mention I live in the absolute worst part of town, when I say worst I mean there hasn't been a day where I haven't heard or seen fights break lose or seen any druggies walking around the neighborhood asking for money. What I was reading on this paper made as much sense as a fish walking out of water.
