"Are you going to see your friend?"

Dazai blinked, startled, then looked at Nakahara, who was sitting on the couch and reading a book.

"Is chibi jealouuuus?"

"You wish," he scowled, surprisingly calm, and then silence. Blue eyes were thoughtfully staring at one direction, he then raised his gaze to Osamu. "You look...better when you're with him. Happier. I'm glad."

Dazai froze in his place. Happier? What was he talking about?

"Pfft, has that ugly hat finally ate the remaining of your brain?"

Chuuya growled irritably at him, making him laugh. Then he rolled his eyes.

"Sometimes you're so easy to read, Dazai. Just need to pay attention to important things."

A frown appeared on Dazai's face, and he took another sip. As always, whiskey burned his throat, but he didn't even knit his brows. He was staring at ice cubes with an uninterested look.

He always liked the bar Lupin. A kind of safe area where you could just relax. Osamu had a warm place in his heart for this bar after it became a place where he hung out with Odasaku and Ango.

When the door opened behind his back, Dazai put on one of his brightest smiles.

"Oh, you came together this time!" He jumped in his place, when the two men walked towards him.

"As you can see," Odasaku softly muttered, sitting next to him. Nodding to Osamu, Ango followed him.

"You're so grumpy! You'll scare everyone away."

"What can I say, it's the job." Sakaguchi shrugged, stretching his neck tiredly.

"Uwaa, I want an interesting mission as well. Can you imagine, Mori-san took away the medications I found!" the brown-haired started, waving his hands, outraged.

"That's terrible," Ango dryly answered, adjusting his glasses.

"Tell me about it! How am I going to commit a suicide now?! I wanted to use them so much..."

"Well, it won't be hard to take them back," Sakunosuke said with a light chuckle, his lips touching the glass.

"Odasaku, you have so much faith in me, I'm touched!"

"Oda-san"—Ango tiredly inhaled behind his back—"you shouldn't be encouraging him all the time."

He gradually relaxed allowing himself to dissolve in a soft atmosphere. He never thought he would be enjoying talking with other people. With his friends. He didn't think about the future at all since he was sure his life would end soon, but here he was, already eighteen years old. Others would say his whole life is ahead of him, but he was already eighteen and he was tired. Just to live, trying to understand what was wrong with him. Searching for the meaning of life. Some would say he complicated things too much, but he couldn't care less. Inside of him was emptiness that even he was sometimes afraid of. Dazai thought if he stopped doing something, he'd fall deep into it.

But it turned out he was lucky. He was blessed with his friends, even though there was two of them. And with his soulmate. Of course. With that red-haired misunderstanding.

"Something's wrong?" Odasaku asked, when Dazai frowned, displeased.

"Mhm? Why?"

"You just sat there and brooded," the red-haired answered, throwing a look at him. Osamu noticed that Chuuya's eyes were brighter.

"I was just thinking." He felt warmness under his ribs, and he didn't fight the urge to smile. Oda continued looking at him indifferently. "God, Odasaku, you and Chuuya sometimes look alike! I feel like two hens take care of me."

"Whatever you say." His friends graciously chuckled, placing his cheek on his palm. "By the way, you were going to introduce us to him."

"Of course!"

No. Well, yes, obviously, Oda wanted to meet his soulmate personally, and Chuuya was curious. That's why he would introduce them. But not now. Those two would quickly get along, Dazai was sure of it. Even though their personalities were different, they still had something in common. Nobility? Purity? Osamu didn't know how to express it with words, but he just felt it. He had no doubt that they would get along, therefore he needed time to mentally get ready. He didn't want to be left behind.
