Glancing down at Briella I watched her shrink back into me at Elijah's words. 'You think you guys are fucked up?!'
Elijah shut the door behind him quietly, Alexander following behind him as they began to discuss sales reports. The three of us stood there. Briella and I at the edge of the driveway while our fa- while James stood in the middle of the yard next to the blinding bright painted punch bug.Shocked by the sudden movement, I looked down to see Bri tug herself out of my arms and walk timidly up to sperm donor. Following in her shadow I watched as she gently grabbed one of his limp hands. James smiled down at her, gently squeezing her hand once, twice, before releasing it as he kissed the crown of her head.
"I must attend to some business... Make yourselves at home, the boys will show you to your rooms." Then the proud, tall, graying man walked off down the driveway where a new limousine awaited him.
We watched him leave before turning to each other. Smiles followed as we looked at each other, unsure of what to say after everything that has occurred within the past few hours.
"Well this is gonna be fun."
"O-oh yeah... A-as long as n-no more sib-blings appear o-out of thin-n air."
"True," I responded with a laugh. Silence followed before I thought of a way to carefully word my next words. "Listen I know its crazy and all the siblings and house and everything just... Just please be careful. An if anything happens j-"
She quickly interjected, "It won't ."
"But if it does come to me and I'll fix it. At the first sign of trouble we will leave okay?"
"Okay," Bri said softly, knowing not to fight me on this.
Our heartfelt moment was then interrupted by a shriek and then Carters voice yelling out, "I swear if you move that bed again I will find another shoe to throw and I. Wont. Miss!"
Briella giggled, the sweet sound distracting me from my own hysterical laughter.
"We better head in there before Carter finds more ammunition," I told her as I gently took her hand and began to lead her up the porch steps.
"D-Dax."
"Yes?"
"I-I-I Just-t wa-want-ted you-u to kn-now that-t nothing ha-happened with that-t boy I w-was just fixing-g his no-ose." She quickly stuttered out, clearly still worried that I was upset after my past outburst.
"I know honey... Just please be a bit less trusting and a bit more careful."
"Y-yes."Bris sunny smile returned, a smile that caused my fear to flee to the back of my mind where it would hopefully stay.
A crashing sound echoed from the house's open windows.
"Carter you broke my lamp! Do you know how long it took to find one that perfectly matched the throw pillows?!"
"Please you bought like five others that you spent an hour staring at before choosing the ugliest one! I did you a favor, man!"
Briella laughed at their antics as she pulled me into the large house. "Do I have to come in?"
"Y-yes we need-d to stop-p them before t-they ki-ill each other." Following the crashing sounds and screams, we walked up the twisting staircase and down a long, carpeted hallway. On either side of us were oak doorways, each one with a name painted on. Passing by Connor's door we entered the blank door next to it, following the sound of screams. Briella froze in the entryway causing me to jolt at the sudden stop. Looking up at the sight before me, all I could do was laugh.
