The Shadow laughs.
SHADOW

Dreaming.
Dean looks around, as if he'd be able to see anything in the pitch black.

(sing-song)
You know... He dreams about , Dean- you

(drawing it out)
Dreams about all of the times you hurt
him. Every betrayal. Every time you
didn't trust him. Every time you left
him behind.
(beat)
A constant loop.
Dean winces and hardens his resolve. He won't let this thing change his determination, but damn does it know where to hit.
DEAN
(uncertain)
Cas?
SHADOW
He can't hear you, Dean. And even if
he could... Do you really think he'd
want to go with you? With the one man
who has brought him so. Much. Pain? _______________
It sees Dean off guard, takes his silence as a cue to continue.
SHADOW (CONT.)
Leave him alone. For his sake.
(moving closer)
Stay here. Make up for what you took
from me. Sleep.
The Shadow is face to face with Dean now, and it reaches out a hand, two fingers moving toward Dean's forehead. Then:
DEAN
No.
Dean knocks the Shadow's arm away.
DEAN (CONT.)
No, I'm not gonna be quiet. You see,
I've never been good at shuttin' my
trap - ask anyone. And I've got some
stuff to say.
SHADOW
(warning)
Dean-
