September 1st, 1971, Platform 9 and ¾

The Scamander family arrived on platform 9 and ¾. It's been nearly 19 years since Newt and Tina last visited the platform. They both thought that they would be joined by one other person. Sadly he passed before he could see his daughter attend school. Tina's eyes wandered as she saw the scarlet red train. Oh, how she wished her son could see his little girl go off to school. Newt handed his granddaughters things to the train workers.

Maelynn Scamander looked just like her mother but had her father's eyes, freckles, and Newt's chestnut auburn hair. Tina and Newt hugged their granddaughter. Maelynn hugged back tightly before letting go and letting her grandmother talk.

"Now do you have everything?" Tina asked zipping up Maelynn's jacket and handing her bag over. Maelynn nodded and hugged her grandparents one last time.

"Remember to write every week, Maisie. We love you," Newt said before kissing his granddaughter's cheek.

Maelynn smiled and turned to the train. She climbed on with a bright smile and her confidence shining through. Something she got from her grandmother. But Maelynn could be very shy just like Newt.

Maelynn got into a compartment and saw her grandparents waving and blowing kisses to her. She returned a quick kiss and waved as the train started to move. She yelled goodbye from the window as the train moved. When they left the station she pulled out her book and started to read from the bookmarked page. Soon enough her reading was interrupted by a knock on the compartment door. Maelynn looked up from her book and invited them in. It was two boys and a girl. Upon closer look at the girl, Maelynn recognized her as a muggle girl from the town she lives in.

"Nashira? You're a witch?" Maelynn asked confusion evident in her voice. Nashira nodded and hugged her friend. They had a small conversation until one of the boys cleared their throat. Maelynn quietly gasped and mentally scolded herself for her lack of manners. But the boy spoke first.

"We were wondering if we could sit here?" the boy with black hair asked. Maelynn nodded and they sat down for introductions. The boy with glasses spoke first.

"I'm James Potter, and this is-" James started but was interrupted by the boy with shaggy black hair.

"I'm Sirius Black, from the noblest and ancient house of Black!" Sirius said in a mocking tone. Maelynn and Nashira rolled their eyes. It was silent until Maelynn spoke.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you both. I'm Maelynn Scamander," Maelynn said, shocking everyone but Nashira. James and Sirius looked at her with widened eyes. Maelynn gave them a confused look.

"Please close your mouths. It's very rude," Nashira said, crossing her arms over her chest. James and Sirius came out of their shocked state and finally spoke.

"You're related to Newt Scamander?" James asked Maelynn nodded and rolled her eyes once more. Everyone compared her to her grandfather. What about her grandmother! She was a very accomplished auror along with her Uncle Theseus. Maelynn loved her grandfather but the other members of her family needed some recognition as well.

"Yes, but I have other very accomplished family members. Such as my grandmother Tina. She worked as an Auror in America," Maelynn said, her Boston accent coming through.

"Wait, if you're from England how come you have an American accent," Sirius asked, he seemed to be quite interested in this girl.

"After my father died, my grandparents took me to Boston, but when I turned ten we moved back," Maelynn said looking down at her lap, tears threatening to fall onto her lap.
