He paused and the look of panic spread across his face.
"I-I really said that..?" He looked embarrassed.
"Yeah.." I replied awkwardly. (where am i going with this help) There was an awkward silence as we stood idly in the presence of the moonlight. I broke that silence.

"Well.. did you mean it?" I asked timidly, placing my arms behind my back and looking away.
"...." He paused for a moment to think.
"Y-yeah! As friends..?" He finally answered. (ugh i hate his obliviousness and i'm the author ????)
"Oh..! Then thanks for clearing that up for me.. We should get back to Mondstadt now before we get attacked by hilichurls." I laughed trying to diffuse the situation.
"Yeah." He agreed with a distant smile.

We walked back together but didn't say anything to each other. The silence was torturous. We couldn't even look at each other. It was just like last week. Why can't any good thing last for long?

We went back to my house and went into our separate rooms to sleep.

Venti's POV:

Is that all she sees me as? Just a friend? (adrien agreste moment) I thought to myself. Whatever, it's understandable, she has Aether after all. Maybe we're just not meant to be. I'll just worry about this tomorrow. I then drifted off to sleep.

"Don't leave me! You said I would never lose you!" I cried out but to who?
"Just trust me! There's no other way; don't you think I would've chosen a different option?!" They yelled back. Tears stung my eyes but why? Who was I crying for?

I woke up. I had been sweating profusely and was breathing heavily. I couldn't tell who that was but the thought made me cry even harder.
I checked my clock. 3:40am. I just cried into my pillow. I guess I had sobbed too loud since Y/N rushed into my room.

Your POV:

I woke up due to the sound of cries. Wait, cries? They appeared to be coming from Venti's room. Without hesitation I rushed in. I found him crying in his bed.

"What's wrong? Did something happen?" I went to sit down beside him.
"I-I had a nightmare..." He said looking embarrassed.
"What was it about..?" I asked not wanting to upset him furthermore.
"I don't know. I was calling out to somebody but I couldn't recognise who they were. Just a silhouette." He looked at me with deep sorrow.
It hurt.

I pulled him into a hug and let him cry on my shoulder. (normally in a fanfic this would be the other way round but y/n is built different also we ignore how she metaphorically cried in Aether's arms like a few chapters ago)

We stayed like that until we both fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning to somebody hugging me. I looked up to see Venti peacefully sleeping whilst clinging tightly on me. As cute as he was, I had errands to run today. I tried my best to sneak out of his arms without waking him, to success.

I went to my bathroom and got ready. Then, I went back to his room to check on him, still sound asleep. I left him a little note saying I was going out to buy some food and other essentials for when he'd wake up. I then left the house.

I went to Sara's restaurant/shop and bought some cooking ingredients and went to the nearest cooking station. I made some jade parcels, chicken-mushroom skewers, steak and pancakes. Then I went to return home.

I put everything into the fridge and went up to Venti's room. When I got up there, he still appeared to be asleep. I chuckled quietly to myself. It was an ideal day today. Warm, clear skies and little-to-no breeze.

I opened the window in his room and let the fresh air in. I sat calmly next to him, eyes closed, just enjoying the sweet scent of the outside.

I felt a strong breeze fly past the back of my neck. I shivered and turned around to see a laughing Venti. I glared at him.
"I know that was you!" I huffed, only causing him to burst into laughter even more. Embarrassed, a blush formed across my face as I threw a pillow at him.
"Ow! Okay, okay I'll stop!" He admitted defeat.
"Now go and get ready, i'll get the pancakes ready." I instructed.
"Yes Ma'am!" He teased, winking and sticking out his tongue, earning an eye roll from me.

I went downstairs to prepare a breakfast for the both of us. I took the pancakes and set them out to look appealing. I got 2 glasses of water and sat down, waiting for the bard.

Around 2 minutes, he finally skipped down the stairs and sat down opposite me.
"Oooh!" He looked at the pancakes practically drooling.
"Dig in!" I said slightly giggling at his reaction to seeing the breakfast.

As we ate, I decided to bring something up.
"Hey, Venti." I said.
"Hm? What is it?" He asked with his mouth half-full.
"I'm thinking of joining the Adventurer's Guild." I blurted out. His face quickly turned to shock.
"Really?! But it's so dangerous, you could get hurt!" He protested.
"Relax, I'm sure it'll be fine. I'll let you do it with me if it makes you feel better." I suggested.
"Hm, okay!" He chirped.
"Huh? Really? That's all it took to persuade you?" I asked in a slight disbelief.
"Yep! So I can always be there to protect you!" He sang happily.
"Well it's fine with me." I sighed with a smile.
We then sat and finished our food.
