Jenna's point of view
There was a knock at the door. Madoka opens it.
"Are you ready, Jenna-Chan?"
"A-ah, Hai Madoka-san" I quickly grab the bag that I prepared earlier.
Madoka smiles at me. "Come along then, we can't be late." She leads me out to the car.
Once inside, I put on my seatbelt, my bag resting on my lap. She starts up the car and puts her own seatbelt on. She pulls onto the road and starts driving.
"The school Hitoka attends is called Karasuno high school. She is a 1st year."
I look at her, slightly confused. "1st year? How old is she?"
"She is 15. 16 on September 4th."
"I am 14. 15 on July 13th."
"Ah, so by our school system, you would be a third year at middle school, so you'll be slightly younger than everyone at Hitoka's school."
"I see."
"Oh! I almost forgot to tell you. Hitoka is in a club, so you'll be attending it with her. There is daily morning and afterschool practices, expect for the weekend."
"That sounds great! I'll get to meet more people!"
Madoka smiles at my enthusiasm, before pulling up, outside the school.
A man stood near the school entrance, wearing a yellow tie, white shirt and maroon suit jacket. He seemed very posh.
"That is the vice principal." Madoka clarifies. "You are supposed to meet with him. Run along now."
"O-oh! Thank you Madoka-san."
I quickly get out of the car, putting my bag on my back, and walk up to the man. I bow at him. " I am Tyler Mya Jenna. I believe you have been expecting me, Sir." I say, in a polite voice.
His tense posture relaxes a little. Seems that my politeness worked. "Ah! Yes, I have Tyler-chan. If you could come with me, please"
I give him a bright smile before I trail slightly behind him. All students seem to be in class, so we only saw 2 teachers on our way into his office. He closes the door behind me.
"Please take a seat."
I sit down, moving my bag back onto my lap.
"As you are already aware, you will be studying here for the next 6 weeks. You will meet you host and translator shortly, and join her class. It seems she attends a club also... This might make things complicated..." He mutters the last sentence to himself, but I still understood what he said.
"That won't be a problem, at all Sir. I would love to attend it with her. May I ask what club she attends?" I make sure I talk politely to him. He seems to be the kind of teacher who loves super polite students.
"Oh right, of course. She seems to be attending...." He quickly reads her file. "Volleyball. Ah she is the second manager for the males volleyball club."
My smile freezes. "V-volleyball... ummm... Sure! I'll attend with my host."
"Excellent! I'll inform the clubs adviser. That's all for now. Let me show you to your classroom."
I follow him through the building until he stops in front of a classroom. He knocks on the door as I take a deep breath.
My internal thoughts are racing, even more so than usual. What if my host doesn't like me? What if the teacher can't understand me? What if I can't communicate with my classmates? What if everyone judges me?
I push down those thoughts as the vice principal walks into the classroom.
He says something to the teacher and the class before looking at me.
On that cue I walk into the classroom and stand beside the vice principal, in front of everyone.
Whispers happen all through the classroom. I caught a few people saying 'kawaii' to their friends, along with words I didn't understand. My cheeks turn slightly pink.
"Please introduce yourself, sweetheart." The teacher says to me kindly, in clear English. At least that's one worry gone.
I take a deep breath before beginning to speak.
"My name is Tyler Mya Jenna, but please call me by my first name, Jenna, since that's what everyone at home calls me. I am the 6 weeks transfer student from Australia. I'm sorry that I don't speak much Japanese or know a lot about your culture. I'm sorry if what I do offends anyone in anyway, but please let me know if I do so. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anytime!"
It seemed like everyone was smiling at me kindly. I was still unsure how much they understood of what I said.
A few students raised their hands. The teacher calls on them and they ask their question in Japanese. The teacher repeats them to me.
"How old are you?"
"I am 14 years old, turning 15 in July."
"Who do you live with?"
"I live with my parents, grandfather and little brother."
"How old is your brother?"
"He is 9 years old."
"Will you be celebrating you birthday here?"
I smile at them. "Yes! I think it will be a wonderful opportunity!"
The students began talking amongst themselves, sounding excited and happy. The teacher trys to settle them down. After a bit they quieted down.
"No more questions, we have work to do." The teacher tells the class. There were some groans.
"You can always ask me questions later."
"Ah yes. Anyways, you will be sitting with Yachi Hitoka, since she is your host." The teacher points at the blonde.
I walk over to her and sit next to her. Gosh I hope she is nice. She looks so cute. I love her hair, it's so adorable!!
"N-nice to m-meet you. I am Y-yachi Hitoka."
