"Why aren't you listening to me? I just heard Ron's parents say that you're in danger! Sirius Bla—"
"(Y/N), sit down. I need to tell you something."
I was exasperated.
I didn't understand why Harry wasn't as concerned as I was about what I just heard, but feeling too annoyed with being interrupted— I did as I was told and sat on my bed with my arms crossed.
I wanted to know what was apparently much more important than a murderer going after Harry, so I stared at The Golden Trio who were staring back at me in uncertain silence.
"So...? What is it?"
Harry grimaced at me apprehensively, shifting his weight where he stood, but still said nothing.
"Oh, for Gods sake!" Hermione threw her hands up, startling us all, and sat down next to me.
"(Y/N), there is a long, complex wizarding history that I'm not sure you've heard about... There was a Wizarding War that started with... a certain dark wizard," she winced, as though what she was saying was painful for her, "and it ended with a baby. The... dark wizard... tried to kill the baby, using an Unforgivable Curse, but this baby survived."
"The Boy Who Lived," I stated nonchalantly and the three looked at me as if I've grown a second head.
"What?" I asked defensively, frowning at them.
"You know?" Hermione blurted incredulously.
I got up and approached the corner where my luggage was, swiftly opened it, and dug around until I pulled out the books I brought from back home, laying them on the bed.
"Not you, too!" Ron huffed and Hermione scowled at him.
I didn't reply— absentmindedly flipping through the book I stole from the teacher who once gave me a brief wizarding history lesson.
"I'm sure it's here somewhere... Some Lord Voldywart or something..." I muttered as I scanned the pages, making Ron laugh abruptly and Hermione squeeze her eyes shut as if I just said something deplorable.
Harry just stared at me expressionlessly.
"See? Right here... 'On the 31st of October, 1981, Lord Voldemort arrived at Godric's Hollow and murdered James and Lily Potter. Lily died trying to protecting her son, who was born the year prior on July 31st, 1980. He is known as The Boy Who Lived, being the only person ever known to survive a Killing Curse. The curse backfired, resulting in the Dark Lord losing all his powers.' "
Right then, I suddenly remembered how Harry told me he was made an orphan because his parents died when he was a baby.
I peered up from the book to find Harry staring at his feet, and Ron and Hermione's eyes flickering between the both of us, confirming my speculations.
"Shit." I muttered and closed the book shut.
"Yeah, uh, my name is Harry Potter..." He mumbled, his voice barely audible, his eyes not meeting mine.
I was speechless. I didn't know what to say. I remembered learning about him briefly and calculating that he was around my age but I would've never, ever assumed that I'd meet him.
My first instinct was to console him for some reason, but I faltered and stopped myself from hugging him— not being sure he'd like that.
"So this Voldemort guy, is he gone?" I finally spoke, and Harry raised his gaze to finally look at me.
Hermione gasped the same way she did when I was reading the segment from the book. I turned and looked at her with a puzzled expression.
"It's just... we don't really say his name. Nobody does. We say You-Know-Who." She whispered as if Voldemort were in the room and she was commenting that his outfit made him look fat.
