I was transported to the nearest hospital and questioned by the police. Chris hasn't left my side and if he had to leave the room then Sebastian had the duty as watchdog.
"He was a wreck," Sebastian said as Chris had to step outside to talk to an officer. "He looked like his whole world collapsed in front of him. He loves you."
I nodded as a lump formed in my throat and then Chris came in.
"I'm going to get some coffees," Sebastian got up and left.
"The doctor said you'll be discharged in a few hours."
"Great, I hate hospitals."
Chris sat next to me, "I can't believe I almost lost you." He grabbed my hands and was careful with my casted hand. Apparently I got a hairline fracture on my right knuckle when I punched Steve.
"You know it's not your fault," I said. Chris looked at me and saw the black eye, busted lip and bruised cheek and throat.
"I was the one to invite him to the club."
"We were both tricked. We thought he was helping us."
"I was supposed to protect you and I failed."
"Hey," I squeezed his hand and he looked up, "you did everything you could. I'm so grateful that you're here right now. I feel safe when you're here. What I said when I called you, I meant it. I know it's super fast but I love you."
Chris gave me a huge smile, "I love you too, Mia."
I was wheeled outside to a rental SUV. Apparently, Chris and Sebastian came in that helicopter. Chris picked me up from the chair and placed me in the back. My feet had the most damage, I have several stitches on both from running in the woods.
Chris climbed in the back with me. "Can we get cheeseburgers," I asked.
Chris chuckled, "Whatever you want babe."
A week later the media caught whiff of what happened and I had several offers to do interviews. I ended up just doing one. I want to make my point of never giving up and to always fight.
Chris and I ended up moving to Boston. He couldn't be anymore happier to be in his hometown. My blog really hit after the kidnapping and I am in the early process of writing a book.
Chris POV
It's been a year since I've met this amazing woman. I never knew how much one person could change you. I wasn't ready to settle down and then Mia came into my life and I can't picture it without her. So here I am planning out the most romantic night and at the end I hope to say that I have a fiancé.
I told Mia that we are going to New York for the weekend. I have an interview with Jimmy Fallon and she's going to be part of the interview. We're going to have dinner at an upscale restaurant and then I'm going to propose to her during the show.
Jimmy was in on it and was ready to help me out. My stomach is in knots and I'm trying my best to stay focus in the interview.
"How's everything going with Amelia and you?"
"Everything is fantastic and I couldn't imagine my life without her." The audience awed and I made eye contact with Mia.
"Let's bring her up!" The audience began to cheer and Amelia looking beautiful in her red satin dress sat next to me. "Amelia! Thank you for always being a great sport. So what has been going on with you?"
Mia started to talk about her book that just came out and how she wanted to continue writing books. Then the moment came. Jimmy played the video I sent to him. A video that contained clips of us being at home or playing pranks on each other, or being on vacation.
Mia was captured by it so she didn't notice that I had gotten on one knee. The audience gasped and that is when Mia looked over and saw me.
"Amelia, from the very moment I saw you I knew you were different from anyone else I've met. You are strong, intelligent, and independent. You never give up and fight for what you believe in. You have my heart completely. Will you do me this honor and become my wife?"
A tear escaped down her face and it seemed everyone was holding their breath. "Yes!" She shouted and wrapped her arms around my neck. I kissed her and placed the ring on her finger.
"There you have it folks! The future Mr. and Mrs. Evans!"
