How do I survive this? I slouched.
"I got everything ready, Anna." aunt Rose chewed her food while talking to mom and dad. It felt good that before I go to London I could see my parents under the same roof.
We were having a little dinner at our family house. This is so home.
BuWhen I looked at the corner of the dining room, I saw Andrea sit on the couch. She wore a little bit of poker face. So I walked and sat beside her and observed her gawkily.
Andrea laughed out loud. "I'm so proud of you, Tenny," It was nice to hear my bestfriend's words support. It overwhelmed me.
I smiled at her in a thankful face. "Finally, I'm being supported by my bestfriend."
There was a moment of silence between us after I finished my sentence. Andrea's face was plain and I was clueless of what she was thinking about. The silence was serious except that Aunt Rosalie and my parents were talking abit loud with Andrea Morgan's parents.
My eyes read Andrea's face but I saw nothing. I laughed. Andrea laughed harder and louder than I am.
"What?" I questioned her while she looked at me, stunned.
"It's just that..." she laughed one more hard laugh, "did you notice that the last few days were full of dramas like the emotional things and...you know?"
"Shut up." Another laugh. I rubbed my palm on my blue denim jeans. "But seriously, I am so gonna miss this."
Andrea nodded on my statement. "yah," she then leaned forward and opened her arms for a tight hug. "One last dramatic thing." she whispered underneath my neck.
I giggled in reply.
After we exchanged embraces, mom called us and we stood up to walk to where my parents and Andrea's and Aunt Rose were chatting.
Every step going to them felt like one step more to face my awaiting life in London. I felt nervous. Nevertheless, I knew it was something to change my life, perspective, and decisions, too.
"Tenny," my dad reached for me and hugged me tightly. Again, it was a safe hug. Something that I really missed. "I'm so sorry if you have to go away just because of the decision your mom and I made." his voice was full of regret that he saw they hurt my feelings.
"Maybe it's just how it is, dad." I whispered back while my head was leaning on his chest.
Maybe someone is really going to diverge from reality and face the other side of life.
In a glint, memories flashed back in my mind. Like the first time I rode my bike and ended up bumping on a tree. But what I am going to decide is something that’s going to be a new chapter of my life.
After being inside my dad’s arms, he let go of me and rubbed my back a little.
Mom inhaled deeply. “You see, my daughter is too pretty to not enjoy herself for a summer,” mom chortled, she seemed enjoying herself.
Aunt Rosalie straightened her shirt. The same young looking aunt of mine I saw when I was younger or perhaps fourteen. “Macy and Cooper missed you, you know?” The last time I saw Macy and Cooper-Aunt Rosalie’s twins-was also the time when I last saw my aunt.
