Chapter 2- Trust

"My name is Jasmine." I spat, forcing out the words.
I only did this because Claudia made me introduce myself to these strangers.
" Nice to meet you. My name is Avice, but you can call me Av for short. Do you have a surname?" She questioned, rearranging her bracelet.
" No, I don't."
" Hi Jasmine, so I'm Caliya, and this is Damien my husband. Our surname is Cander." The stranger-woman with brown curly hair told me. I looked at the stranger-man, he looked uncomfortable like me.
" Jasmine, spend some time with the Cander family. I'll see you in 3 hours." Claudia waved to me, and started the car. I don't know how I'm going to get through this.
As we walked into the Cander family house I realized that their furniture was simple, but looked expensive.
" Jasmine, do you have a nickname we can call you?" Caliya asked, bringing out a tray of tea and small cupcakes from the kitchen.
" You can call me Jas." I replied.
" So Jas, do have a favorite food?"
" I can't remember the name. It's meat." I said, the silence that followed hurt my ears, not hearing anything but empty silence.
" Ok. Do you have a question?" Av replied, sipping her cup of tea.
" Do I have to stay with you?"
" Yeah. You do, but I promise you can trust us. We won't hurt you, and we want to get to know you."
Av said, patting my arm awkwardly.
" Why don't we play a game?" Caliya suggested, getting up from the couch, and taking the tray still full of cupcakes back to the kitchen.
" Sure. What game?" Av asked, holding up 3 board games, Monopoly, Twister, and Chess.
" I don't mind, what do you guys usually play?" I asked.
" We usually play Monopoly. Do you wanna play that?" Av replied.
" Ok!"

TIME SKIP
We set up the game, and so far, Aviana was winning by far. Caliya was falling behind and I was just in the middle and Damien, I wasn't sure.

" YES! I AM WINNING!" Aviana bragged, as she picked up another piece and put in down on the playing board.
" So far. But I will demolish you after." I thought, masking my thoughts with a smile, I rolled the dice.
The dice landed on 3. I purchased the most expensive house and smirked.
" Av is gonna be demolished"

The game ended when I beat Av and she went bankrupt. 😏

" Did you have a good time?" Claudia asked, as soon as i hopped into the police car.
" Yeah. It was fun." I replied.
" Hey. You know what a phone is?"
" Yeah!"
" Here's one i got for you. Try using it. It's got all the apps you need. But i wont tell you the id password to purchase and download apps." Claudia explained, passing a sleek android phone to me. It was black and looked new, and felt good and smooth in my hands.
" Thanks. Why are you giving me a phone?" I questioned.
" I need to communicate with you. Police orders. I have to observe what's going on with you and the Cander family when I'm not there."
"Ok."
The thought of Claudia observing me all the time gave me chills.

" You'll be staying with me tonight. I have a separate small unit in the back garden. Get yourself a single sized bedcover and pillow cover for the night. Some blankets should be enough. You'll find all you needed amenities prepared for you in the brown cupboard over there." Claudia pointed, and started cooking a meal for us.

I walked to the dusty cupboard, wheezing as i opened the doors. I got out all my needed stuff and trailed off to the tiny unit in the garden.
When i arrived, at my feet, there was a shiny key to unlock the door. I picked it up and
Turned the key into the brand new lock. The unit had a smell, and Claudia was prepared. I saw a spray bottle of some air freshener and sprayed it over the dusty furniture.
I took off all the old cloths covering the furniture and realised it was'nt that tiny.
The bed was in a small room and i used the blue sheet and pillow case to freshen up the bed.

After cleaning up, the place was liveable and I went back to the main house to have dinner with Claudia.

I know i can trust these people who come into my life, out of love and care for me.
