Frey stopped at the end of the hallway we had turned down. She threw me a glance that said she didn't expect me to be much and that this was probably a waste of her time. I just had time to register it before she whipped her head around again and threw herself into he hallway. Cursing, I fallowed her.
The hallway was still mostly chaos, I mean didn't these kids have classes to get to or something? I looked around for Frey and saw her walking down the hall, with her right side pressed against the wall. This way, she avoided the better part of the battering and got where she was going fairly quickly. I fallowed her example and tried to keep up with her pace as she glided along the wall, making better time than anyone else in that hallway.
Eventually she stopped and waited impatiently for me to catch up. When I did, shegrabbed my arm and hissed at me, "This is where things get tricky. Just stay close and don't get distracted no matter what you see."
I nodded, wondering what on earth she meant by that. Then she took a deep breath and turned the corner. I stayed with her, which incadently was pretty hard to do with the pace she was speeding along at. This wasn't a speed walk, or even a jog. This was a full-out sprint. She was deadly fast and I gasped, trying to keep up with her. This hallway seemed to stretch out in front of us in a way the others hadn't. This one continued forever and ever. And the things in the hallway. They were people, but also not people. Zombies, skeletons, undeaed ghosts that leered out at me, threateningly. I ducked away, trying to stay close to Freya. Except Frey was gettingf farther and farther away from me. I stumbled and the last thing I can remember was the undead things closing in around me.
I remember a nagging, something in the back of my mind that said, you can't die. Think of your mom. Don't die. But my body wanted to give up. I ached, and the pain laced itsefl with the army of the undead I'd seen in the hallway. I really wanted to ignore the voice but It kept on nagging me, reminding me of all the reasons I couldn't die. Why not just give up? It hurt to badly to live . . . but I couldn't die.
Then my mind started to clear. Only this time, I was eager to wake and unwrap myself from the blanket of drowsiness. I began to help, digging my way to consiuosness. I flung my eyes open. My mouth was open and my throat was raw. I quickly closed it and swallowed. My head ached as I stared uncomprehensively at the black ceiling above with the spots of bright light. I breathed fresh air . . . was this a ceiling at all? I sat up, trying to gain bearings. The temperature around me was cool. The ground below me was also cool. It was smooth, like concrete. The uneven walls of a castle rose around me. There was a garden surrounding me. It glowed with white blossoms in the night air and green spilled out of the flower beds. Frey was there, glaring a me.
"Stupid!" She growled, "You got distracted by what you saw!"
I opened my mouth to defend myself, but Leon stepped forward. Only it waqsn't Leon. "You're a-a-a-"
"Hyppogriff." He supplied sadly. "Yes, I know." I actually didn't think he was a Hyppogriff. He was also part human. Leon had human arms and head where the bird head would have been on a regular Hyppogriff. But his back was still feathered with white wings and his front was a black stallion. "Now you should meet my partner, Zilla." There was a soft padding and a sphinx walked into my view. Even through how stunned I was, I could still register that Zilla was magnificent. She has a gorgeouse human face, with a golden lioness body. It was incredible.
But I was still distracted by alot of things. Like: this place did not seem like an insane assylum. I wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing at this point. Also, the wierd things I had been seeing really DID exist. And finaly, what had happened in that hallway?
