First day of school. Always an interesting day. Zoya thought to herself as she got out of the car, closing the door behind her. Standing in front of the building that holds the classes for senior high schoolers of phoenix high. The name is exactly what it means. This is where corporate heirs are born again. Rising from the ashes of their broken believes and innocence. It's a bit of an exaggeration but that's the only thing Zoya can think of when coming to school. Until last year, she thought being able to rise from the ashes of your past is a gift. That it's a new start. New start, it is. But it wasn't a gift. Nothing changes in the world just because your world turned upside down. The way you see things change but the way people see you doesn't. Because even though it is supposed to be a new start, they remember everything. The only way for them to see you differently is to make them.

The building looks old but beautiful. The entire school was built by the seven main families of the town in 1847. The descendants of the families were considered the royalty of this school for a long time but as time passed, the richest among them were favored. Although Zoya was a descendant herself and was the richest among the others. She used to be bullied by Siya, the third richest descendant. For some reason they never got along. This time, Zoya has no time to be bullied by her. After all, Siya's is not the only descendant that Zoya knows of. As her thoughts take a turn to the descendants she grew up with, the sound of a motorbike's engine interrupts her. She turns around, knowing exactly who it is. Ayan Malik is just as handsome as he was a year ago. He was the sports kid among their group of four. He had anger issues, which led to a lot of problems. In a fight, he'll be the first to rise a fist.

Right behind him is the most silent kid in their group. Aryan Kaiser is a sadistic son of a mob boss. Such a cliché. What's more cliché is that none of the others in their group knew about his family until the previous year. They thought that they were the best of friends and that they knew everything about each other but they all kept things from each other. As they climb up the stairs together, their eyes meet Zoya's and they freeze.

They knew that she was back in town. As soon as they knew she was in town, they wanted to go see her but didn't know how to face her. Now that they're facing each other, their legs move on their own accord. It was natural for them to move towards her. They always do. But as they got closer, they realized one thing. she wasn't smiling. They were three feet away from her when she finally pulled a smile on her lips. But it was a lot different from the smiles that they were used to. It was a crooked smile that wasn't genuine. Zoya still thinks them as her friends but could not let her guard down.

"Long time no see, guys."

Though it took a lot of willpower not hug her, they gave her a smile and Ayan replied. "Long time indeed." her voice, no matter how emotionless her face looks, is still soothing.

"You are just as handsome as ever, Aryan." Ayan grimaced. He definitely doesn't like it when she compliments other men.

"Zoya." is all that Aryan says. For any outsider, it may look like he doesn't appreciate her compliment and was cold. But Zoya can hear what he actually said. His voice says it all. It says that he missed her and that he has lot of questions and that he wants to be friends with her again. Only, he wants to be more than just friends.

But before she could say another word, Ayan says "we need to talk" and moves towards the auditorium. Zoya all but smiles and follows them.

As they sit in the auditorium for the next 15 minutes, waiting for someone to speak up. The class must've started but it doesn't matter. They guys weren't planning to attend the first day anyway. Finally, Zoya speaks, her voice cutting the thick layer of silence that surrounded them.

"I have a favor to ask from you" the boys can see a lot of changes in Zoya. She wasn't this straightforward and she used to smile more often . What did we do to her? Thinks Ayan.

"Anything" surprisingly enough, it was Aryan who said that. he rarely joins in their conversations and the only person he does talk a lot to, is Zoya. It shows how desperate he is to make amends with her.

"it's more of a payback than a favor." she gives a pause and continues. "I want you guys to help me get revenge." with that she turns around and leaves. Though she doesn't say anything else, they understood what she's referring to. Her father...

*** Dear readers,

the story will be updated every Sunday from now on. if I was unable to do so I will make sure to publish on Monday. Also, as you know, this is a reverse harem themed story, which means the female lead will end up with more than one guy, so there is going to be mature content in this story. but I can assure you that it is not too dark, unless you consider extreme violence. Also, not to confuse you but this story is taking place in an imaginary town in India. So, none of the scene settings and situations are related to the country.

Also, please give me a feedback so I can improvise the narration.

With loads of gratitude,

janvi siya
