It was a typical friday night.
The fifth day of the week before the highly anticipated weekends arrives. Employees leaving early from their workplace to meet their friends and loved ones, while some have chosen to stay at home and spend their lovely time alone sitting on a bathtub as they soaked in warm water.
But for Tay Tawan Vihokratana, the editor in chief of "Je Ne Sais Quoi" - the most popular lifestyle magazine in Thailand, it was a day full of disaster. The hot-tempered 26 years old bachelor got bombarded by countless problems.
The printing of their January issue should be done on the weekends for the physical copies to be released on the scheduled date which is on monday next week.
That was how it was supposed to be.
What happened was the opposite.
They have found out, a tad bit late, that the "final" output submitted to the publishing company was the unproofread version, which was previously rejected by Tay due to a single article about an up and coming teen celebrity that they featured for their fashion section.
For some reason, the writer wrote the article in a way which negatively views the featured artist - which was enough reason for it to be scrapped. According to rumors in the showbusiness circle, the teen celeb came off as sort of arrogant which in turn made the writer gain quite an animosity towards her.
The production manager which was in charge of ensuring all files are in place, made a crucial mistake that has now turned the whole office into a whirlpool of panic.
"Are you not using your brain? How can you make such a stupid mistake?!" Tay's scream can be heard echoing on the four corners of the meeting room which their team was currently gathered at.
"P'Tay, I'm really sorry. I remember double cheking the files before I sent them to the publisher.. I don't how it got mixed up with the previous version.."
"Stop making excuses!" Tay slammed his hands at the table, which made his team look down in fear.
"Thank god I thought of rechecking the files, if not for that, the wrong article might've been printed by now! I can already imagine the backlash we'll get, heck, we might even be sued for defamation!" Tay shouted, anger fairly visible in his perfectly tanned face.
"I'll let it pass this time, but if anyone of you make another mistake. You know what will happen, right?" He said in a commanding tone.
"Yes sir."
"Okay, well then, meeting adjour-" Tay was interrupted by one of his newly hired assistant.
"What is it? I told you not to interrupt me on my meetings. That better be urgent or else.."
"Mr. Vihokratana, I'm so sorry!! I forgot to tell you... that you were supposed to have a lunch with the CEO of GNNTV today. Please don't fire me.. I'm really so sorry, Sir!" - says Nanon, a fresh graduate who made the worst possible decision of working for the "devil". A silly nickname they came up for Tay.
"WHAT?! How could you forget such an important meeting? Why did I hire you for if you can't even do your job properly?!" Tay's voice that has almost calmed down a few seconds ago was now so deafeningly loud, which sent chills to everyone's body.
However, a sudden knock from the door ceased the increasing tension from the meeting room.
*KNOCK KNOCK*
"Tay." - Off Jumpol, Tay's best friend since god knows when, as well as his Secretary, arrived.
"I already bought her favorite red velvet cheesecake. Instead of wasting your time, why don't we go and apologize to Miss CEO so that we can finally get that interview you've been vying for years."
