A YEAR AFTER

It was a rainy day.

The beautiful orange sky from this morning was now surrounded by dark clouds.
Morning forecast said that there would be thunderstorms in some parts of Bangkok.

And Tay Tawan, the son of the sun, was not a fan of rainy days.

It was 11PM and Tay just got off from a tiring day at work.

There was a minor mishap on the printed article from their February issue that caused quite a stir from the public– ironically, they were caught in a pretty similar situation from a year ago. However, Tay was quick to think as he immediately prevented the spread of malicious issues before it reached the media outlets.

"Great... It's raining." Tay hated the rain.

Back when he was a child, his mom told him that the sky feels whenever a person is sad. The clouds in the sky would empathize with that person and cry for him thus the rain. Of course, he knew afterwards that it was a white lie made up by his mom to keep him from feeling sad, but for some reason, he has brought up that dislike for the rain until he has grown up to be an adult.

"And I have no umbrella... Dammit."

Tay quickly ran to the parking lot to get to his car. He used his coat to cover himself from the rain but it was no use as he was still soaking wet when he entered his car.

Annoyed, soaked in water, and exhausted.

Tay was feeling all sorts of emotions as he entered the elevator from the basement of the parking space for tenants of the 30-storey condominium, that he didn't notice the other three people inside.

He was supposed to push the button on the 29th floor, the most expensive and luxurious floor in the whole building, only to see that it was already pushed by another person.

"What are the odds of being on the same elevator ride with a person living on the same floor?" he thought.

They were on the 10th floor when the lights started flickering and in just a blink of an eye – the lights went off.

Tay was quick to get his phone from his pocket to open its flashlight, but accidentally pointed it to the face of the person on his right side.

He could not believe who he just saw.

A year ago since then.

It started with the worst moment in his entire career, a fateful meeting, a realization, a handshake, a sudden farewell – and now, an unexpected reunion.

It was him. The reason for all.

It was New.
