37 years. It's been 37 YEARS since I last saw him. Since I last saw my brother.
I was chatting with Hiroshima when I heard footsteps. I turned around and saw Anai and Majari walk in. Anai looked stressed. VERY stressed. But he also looked happy with Majari. Anai looked exactly like me. The only difference was that he looked like a teenager and he has our father's blue eyes. "Anai?!" I exclaim. I look around for a nearby table, put down the cup of tea I was holding and ran to his arms. He ran towards me, his arms meeting my torso and my arms meeting his shoulders. Tears running down my face, I hugged him tightly. He hugged be back. "Anai! Where have you been these past years!? I was told you we're dead!" I say as I let go of him, allowing him to look at me. We make eye contact
"Dead? Is that what they said? Mother sold me to an old man! Father knew about this, but did nothing about it! I don't know why they did this, but it was for a reason. Anyway, that was in the past. We should just fill each other in about what we've been doing for the past...." he stops and looks down with a bit of concern on his face. "Oh dear..for how long have we been apart?" He looks back up and asks. "I don't know, but I'm just happy to be with you again." I reply with a smile in my face. My tears are now dried up. I hear the sound of high heels tapping on the wooden floor. I turn around and see Hiroshima walking towards us. "Ah! Hiroshima, this is your uncle! My twin brother!" I say as I fight back the tears in my eyes threatening to spill out. I'm just so happy and proud to be able to tell my children they have an uncle. I put my right arm around Anai's shoulders and let the two introduce themselves.
"Why, Hello Uncle. It's nice to meet you." Hiroshima says with a warm smile on her face as she hands him her hand to shake. "Hello there, it's nice to meet you too" He replies. They shake hands. I slowly walk away allowing them to have a but more privacy. They're quick to make a conversation. I walk towards the wooden doors to find the nearest room with a mirror to make sure I still look fancy, but then get a strange feeling. I stop walking and think for a second. Benji! How could I forget about my own son? I say to myself in my head. I turn and search the large room. Hiro and Anai are on the right side, talking to each other. I find him looking out the window with his hands holding each other behind him. His dark purple hair brushed to the side, slightly shining from the warm sunshine and his dark blue suit matching his cyan eyes made him look like a completely different person. I walk towards him as he silently continues looking out the window.
"Hey there bud. You look sad, what's wrong?" I ask as I lay a hand on his shoulder. He turns to look at up at me. He looks like he hasn't sleep in days, dark circles under his eyes. But he also looks...emotionless? "Nothing." He replies and turns back to the window. I become more concerned, and try to distract him from whatever is worrying him in his mind. "What are you looking at?" I ask and look out the window to try and find whatever he's looking at. He stays silent. "There's a dead house sparrow near the main entrance" He says and points at a small object outside. I find this a bit disturbing to come from him. He isn't like this. Something's DEFINITELY bothering him. I want to ask him again if there's something wrong, but I don't want him to feel forced to open up to me. I look at him and say; "If you want to talk about anything, don't hesitate to talk with me, alright?". He nods. I pat his back letting him know he can trust me, and do what I was going to do before.
*Hours later, around 8 pm. Everyone is at the dinner table chatting and having a good time*Anai and Majari we're telling us the funny and embarrassing story about how they met, until I suddenly got the same strange feeling I had earlier. Anai senses my concern and stops laughing. He looks at me and asks what's wrong. I look around and notice that Benji isn't with us. His plate full of delicious food has been untouched, just like his chair. I feel the kind of chill you get when an ice cube is put on your neck and slowly slides down your back. I turn to Hiroshima and ask if she knows where Benji is. "Huh? Isn't he here already?" she turned to the empty seat. A mix of confusion and worry appears on her face. We all stay silent as we stare at the brown hardwood chair. The only noise you hear is the crackling from the burning wood in the fireplace in the room. Suddenly, Hiroshima stands up and slams her hands on the table, almost knocking down her own chair. The food on near the edge of her plate, and her silver fork on the floor. Her eyes wide open in realization. She looks down at Anai, who is sitting across the table in front of her. He stares at her confused.
"Can you go check on Benji? He said if he doesn't come back soon then we should go check on him. His room is the last door on the right down the left hall, " She says. Anai stands up, excuses himself and does as he's told. The large wooden doors open up, letting in the yellow-ish light from the halls in. He walks out and the doors close behind him, causing the room to become dark again, and it's only light being the fire from the fireplace. A few minutes pass by and he's still not back. I get up and start pacing back and forth from one side of the room to the other. Hiroshima notices my worry, but decides to ignore it knowing It's no big deal. Majari also got up and walked closer to the fireplace. With hands behind his back, he stood a few feet from the red and golden fire that somehow seemed to be alive. Hiroshima sits back down, but faces the wall behind her. We wait for a few more minutes until Majari breaks the silence between all 3 of us.
"Hiro, Is there something you know that we don't?" He asked. Hiroshima didn't move. She stayed still and faced the wall, thinking of an answer. "No." She replied. I'm her father, I know when she's lying. I stopped walking and faced her. "Are you sure? You know I don't like it when people lie to me." I say, and it's true. I HATE it when people lie to me. I feel like a fool, like as If I should've know I've been lied to. She ignored my question, and said nothing.* 15 minutes later because Anai got lost but finally found Benji's bedroom *
*stomp* *stomp* *stomp* *stomp* *stomp*
I hear Anai running back to the dining room. I turn and face the large doors. The guards open the doors and Anai is hunched over painting with a bit of sweat running down his face. He looks up, with his eyes wide open with skin paler than normal. He seems like as if he's seen a corpse or ghost. We all stare at him quietly waiting for him to feed us with information like a mother bird feeding worms to her children. "You guys have to see this" He says with worry. He stands up straight, wipes off the sweat and heads back quickly to Benji's room. We tag along, our footsteps being all over the place. As we get closer, I notice that Benji's room has no lights on, the door is open and it sounds very quiet.--------------------------------------------
*SOBS CUTELY*someone finna die rn 😔 ANYWAYS- Like always, I will leave a death-form if you wanna skip the whole death scene but also wanna know who died 💅🏼✨
--------------------------------------------
We step in....and see him hanging. He hung himself. In shock I stay still, Hiroshima shrieks, Anai looks away and hugs Majari tightly. Majari hugs him back with one arm, and stares at the hanging body. I hear guards running to us who's attention was brought by Hiroshima. "Sire! What's wrong? Has an intruder broken inside the castle?" one shouts. I turn to them and tell them to get a sharp object to cut rope and to get some servants with 'code 16' supplies. They nod and get to their places. Hiroshima, drowning with tears, flies up to her brother. She grabs his legs, and carries him in place bridal style. She cries more and buries her face in his chest. I feel my legs get weak, and walk closer to a wall to lean against. Around 15 servants come running to us, with white hospital sheets, gloves, and other things you would find in a hospital. A woman peeks in, and whispers the news to some, and gives orders to the rest. They quickly run around like mice running to hide from predators.
I look down at my shaking hands. I feel tears threatening to spill out. I run a hand down my hair and look down. I stand quietly and think about today. The voices and other noises around me start to sound muffled. Then it hits me. He's been showing signs of depression and probably reaching for help but didn't know how or didn't trust me or anyone. If only I had payed more attention to him. If only I had tried to ask him about how he felt about the things that have been happening lately. I feel a couple tears run down my face. "LEAVE ME WITH HIM! LET ME GO!" Hiroshima shouts. I turn to the door and look inside. She's being brought back down by two guards, and 5 servants are taking care of Benji's body. I look around me and see everyone's sorrowful look on their face. Hiroshima runs into my arms, and sobs. I can't take it. My heart can't take it. I'm done acting like a strong father. I hug her back, and sobs quietly with her.he didn't deserve to die like this...
