(No one's PoV)

Robin Stark lays in her bed on the helicarrier. The heart monitor is beeping softly in the background as the fan sends a gentle breeze over the Avengers next to Robin. The room was quiet with tension.

"I should've been there!" Tony suddenly blurted. He looked at Steve's worried face and Black Widow's anxious one and got up. "I should've never let her out of my sight. I was such a terrible father. I could've been there for her. Now she's on the edge of death and I just watch her go."

"Tony, it's not your fault." Steve said calmly.

"It is!"

"Stark, she chose to do this." Black widow piped up, "And if she is anything like you, she will survive."

"That's the problem, she's too much like me. Birdie is a bucketful of trouble. She doesn't need this, she doesn't need to be here." The older Stark grinned at his words then his smile fell, "but..."

"Tony?"

Anthony shakes his head in sadness. "I'm too much like my dad."

"Tony, you wouldn't do that and you aren't going to," Steve warns.

"It's the only way to get her away from the dangers of Iron Man." Tony argues. He stands up and scoots his chair closer to Robin. Tony grabs her cold hand and squeezes it.

(Robin's PoV)

"Helllllo? Ahhhhh, there you aaaaaare. I'vvvve been waiting for yoooou." A slithery voice calls.

"Who are you? What do you want?" I squeak nervously. I hear a dark chuckle echo around me.

"Why darrrling, I'm yoooou." The voice hissed.

"B-but I'm me." I reply.

"Yesssss you arrrre. I ammmm alssso you. You seeee, I am you're dark dessires, yoouuurrr subconscious. Yoooou thought yooourrr poooowers were freeeee." It snaps. I feel a cold surge through my body.

"Why didn't you come to me before?" I ask. I was getting bolder.

"You weren't stuck in your subconsciousssss."

"What can you do?"

"Much more than you can normallyyyyy. Why the suddennnn interesssst?"

"If I weren't Tony's daughter I'd be really scared, but all am is curious. How did you come to be? Where you there from birth? Are you really me? Am I really me? How are you so knowledgeable? You've only been around eleven years. Do you follow acedemic or life knowledge to solve problems?"

"Ummmm..."

"Can you hear everything? Are my senses your senses? Do you have emotions? Do you see what I can't see? What about-"

"Shut up!"

Everything is eerily quiet except for the muffled murmurs of the outside world. The silence isn't at all relaxing but full of tension and a hint of pain.

"Stop asking questions. I have a deal for you if you don't mind,"

"Shoot."

"You know how you were shot?"

"Yeeees?"

"I could prevent anything like that from happening again, I could make you a hero, like your father, I could make you powerful. All you have to do is take my hand and let me control you in your times of need. What do ya say, kid?"

"I have no hand to shake."

At that a shadowy hand forms near me, it's fingers boney and curled. I tentatively reach to grab the hand and whisper, "I won't be helpless anymore."

I feel a dark chill run through my body and my heart stops.

(Steve's PoV)

I pace the room, hoping Robin would wake up.

"Oh god, Robin might never wake up, and all I did was fight with her." I growl. I run my hands through my hair in frustration.

"Steve I-" Natasha begins before a loud beeping noise interrupts us. I whip my head to Birdie's heart monitor seeing the usually spiking green line go still.

"F***!" I yell. I run over to Birdie and scream for help. Tony rushes into the room and sees the heart monitor. His breath hitches before he runs over and checks her body.

"That's it! This has only solidified my desicion! Robin is going to William Drafton's Boarding School for Girls."  Tony snaps, "If Robin lives....."
