Back Back To The Basics

My senior year of high school was set to begin on the 6th of September, leaving the remaining days to relax, now that I had nothing to do.

It felt weird. I gave up on something that I really loved doing for a boy I just happened to meet on a trip.

He never asked me to quit but it was implied in his words that I should. I guess it was his only way to test my loyalty to him.

But how would I know if he's being loyal to me. He is six thousand miles away. He could do whatever he wanted.

"What if I was just a summer fling"

"What if he looses feelings since we are so far apart?"

Those thoughts creeped up into my mind throughout the remainder of the week. It made me doubt everything relating to our relationship.

"Luna-ah good morning, oh well it's the afternoon for you but I just woke up. How has your day been so far Yeobo?"

Those doubts were squashed whenever I received that "morning" call from him. He greeted me the same way everytime he called. I found it cute and it would make me laugh.

I'd then explain how my day went so far, and then turn the conversation topic back to him, asking him how he slept, and what he was going to do today.

Except for today I know he started his senior year of high school, since he was almost a full day ahead, so I asked if he was ready.

It was simple conversations like that everyday that made me realize those feelings I had were silly, especially whenever he'd ask me the same question.

"Do you know when you're coming back, I miss you. I love you."

It would always make my heart beat a little faster, and cause butterflies in my stomach.

This time I could answer his question.

"Soon Jagi (honey) I have a scheduled phone call with the agency at 3pm your time, I'll have an answer for you right after the call."

"Ah Yeobo, I'm so excited, hopefully its really soon!!"

Normally the conversations would go on longer, but today he had to get ready to go to school.

We say our goodbyes, and hung up. Leaving me with about six hours till the phone call from my agency.

"Let's go out since it's the day before senior year starts," Nova said upon entering my room. I assumed she let herself in, as usual.

She used it, being the last day of summer as, an excuse. When in reality we went out everyday since I got back, catching each other up, and doing the same things we used to do before I originally left.

After spending the afternoon with Nova, we headed back to our houses, going our separate ways. I got back to my house finding dinner just about done, so I washed my hands and helped my mom set the table for the two of us.

We laughed and talked, we ate and cleaned up. And we still chatted till I got a phone call.

"Omg omg mommá it's the agency," I squealed.

"Hurry answer it Luna," she demanded.

"Ok ok," I said, clicking the answer button. "Hello."

"I was instructed to call this number. Is this Suarez Luna?" The Korean woman asked in her thick Busan satoori accent.

"Yes, this is she," I responded in a Busan dialect.
