Hayden
It's been almost a week since I last saw Sawyer...held her in my arms, kissed those sweet lips of hers shaped like a small heart, and pushed her wavy blonde hair out of her face to see those irresistible honey-brown eyes.
I just had to have another away series that was our longest one this season. Four games in four days. It was mentally and physically exhausting, yet we still came home shorthanded, winning only two of them. The two days I had off when I got back, Sawyer was busy with her grandparents, which wasn't a big deal because I got to catch up on some sleep. The only thing that saved me from being an embarrassingly sappy man and missing her like crazy was video chatting her pretty much every night since our first date. If I couldn't see her in person, nothing was going to stop me from seeing her through my phone. It's crazy to think just how much she can turn my shitty mood around with a single smile from her pretty face. The face of an angel. God, that girl could be talking to me about the damn weather, and it would still excite me coming from her.
Sawyer drives me wild in the best way possible, and I don't think any other girl has been stuck in my mind quite like her. She stirs something up in me like no one else. I just hope I'll be able to feel her warmth in my arms again sooner rather than later.
"Hey, man," Tanner walked up beside me as we headed into the stadium for practice.
I gave him a quick nod. "What's up, Tan?"
"Just trying to get my head back in the game for today. My body is still feeling it after the week against Cincinnati."
"Right there with ya. Even though I slept my way through the last couple of days," I lightly chuckled.
He raised a brow at me while opening the entrance door. "You didn't see Sawyer at all? I thought you would have asked her out again the second our plane landed."
"Well, if she would have been home, then I would have done that. She was over at her grandparents' house visiting."
"So in between sleeping, you were moping around for the girl?" He laughed as I shoved his shoulder. "Kidding, kidding. Don't worry, though. After I saw that dreamy look in her eyes the other night, I'm pretty sure she was doing the same thing."
I turned my head towards him. "Dreamy look?"
He nodded. "Yeah, like she had a hell of a time with you."
"Did she say anything about me?"
Tanner knitted his brows together. "Dude, what are you in junior high?" He busted out laughing as I rolled my eyes. "She didn't say much, but she didn't have to. It was written all over her face."
"What was?"
"You could say that your kitten is smitten."
I grimaced. "Yeah, please don't talk like that to me ever again. It's fucking weird, man."
"I regretted it as soon as the words left my mouth, honestly," We echoed the hall with our laughter. "But seriously, you don't need glasses to see that the girl likes you."
A smile spread on my face at the thought of her. "You think?"
"Totally. You know she's got that kind of innocent and shy thing going on. It's kind of cute."
My brows furrowed, shooting him a look. "She's spoken for."
"Is she, though?" He said, trying to poke fun at me.
"I'm hoping so...hopefully soon."
Tanner grinned. "Good, because I think that girl is going to be the best thing that ever happened to you."
