Jackie's POV

About a week after my incident with Phillips the guys finally let me go places on my own. Benny sent Squints, Yeah-Yeah, and me to get a new baseball. It was scorching out today so I wore a navy blue tank top and some ripped high-waisted jeans with my black converse and my hair is a curly ponytail. We three walked to the drug store and went inside, the air conditioning was like a blessing from the lord.

"Fan out and find the baseballs," Squints instructed.

I saluted him we separated in search of the ball. I walked up and down isles and finally got to the baseballs I shouted for Yeah-Yeah and Squints that I found them and to come over here. They didn't come so I went to look for the two knuckleheads. I found them in the magazine aisle looking at one, they both seemed pretty interested in what it was. I got closer and realized they were looking at a playboy magazine! I was disgusted and ripped the magazine from Squints's hands.

"HEY! Oh, Jackie. heh hi." Squints said nervously.

I grabbed both their hands and dragged them toward the counter to pay.

"That will be $0.98, please." the cashier said.

I handed over the money and dragged the boys outside and handed one of them the ball. They fought over who got to hold the ball I got really aggravated I was about to snap at them when I heard Squints stop talking. I looked back to see Yeah-Yeah yanking the ball from Squints hands but Squints was staring at something or should I say, someone.

"What's the matter?" Yeah-Yeah asked.

Squints pointed to a blonde-haired girl walking our way, "Wendy Peffercorn."

Yeah-Yeah looked but then looked away. As Wendy got closer she winked at Squints. He turned his head and looked at her ass. Disappointing and disgusting. Yeah-Yeah pulled Squints's arm and dragged him toward me.

"Come on we gotta get to the sandlot," Yeah-Yeah whined.

"Noooo" Squints sighed.

"Jackie help me with this guy," Yeah-Yeah complained while pulling Squints.

I rolled my eyes and hurled Squints over my shoulder carrying his like a sack of potatoes. We walked back to the sandlot and I set Squints down and Yeah-Yeah grabbed his arm pulling him toward the dugout.

"Where you guys been? We've been waitin' here forever already!" Benny asked very annoyed.

"Aw, Squints was just pervin' a dish," Yeah-Yeah said handing the ball to Benny.

"Was it my sister?" Ham asked protectively.

I shook my head to reassure him Squints wasn't perving me. Yeah-Yeah repeated what he said and Squints snapped at him.

"Shut up I wasn't!" he said.

"Yeah yeah, you were! Your tongue was hangin' outta your head and you was swoonin'."

Yeah-Yeah and I looked at each other and said at the exact same time doing exactly the same thing.

"Wendy Peffercorn. My darling lover girl!" we laughed and so did the boys.

"I said shut up! I got a lot of things on my mind." Squinted raved.

Now, what did an 11-year-old boy like Squints have on his mind? Whatever it was I didn't want to know. I when over and sat by DeNunez and Smalls grabbing some water. Damn it was hot out. As if my brother read my mind he walked up to Benny and made a dramatic scene.

"This pop ain't workin' Benny! I'm baking like a toasted cheeser! It's so hot out here!" he complained.

The boys and I nodded in agreement.
