Not My Problem

35-Upgrade

*leahs pov*

"Please stay." I say and lay my head on the pillow as I'm laying on my stomach, with a sheet covering my naked body. "I can't. You know I have to get home..." She says.

I know she has to go home for her kid, but I still want her to stay. "I know." I sigh. I watch as she jumps, trying to get her jeans over her ass. Then she looks around for a second.

"I think my shirt is somewhere at the end of the stairs.." She scratches her head and I giggle. She looks in the mirror to my vanity and fixes her post-sex hair, well at least she try's to.

I watch as she adjusts her bra, and runs her fingers through her hair. "Ok- you need to leave before I take you in for round 2." I say since she's so attractive right now.

"You're right." She points at me and I roll my eyes. She goes downstairs to find the rest of her clothes, and by the time she comes back in my room I'm already falling asleep. "I'll see you later baby." She says and sits on the bed, leaning down to kiss me.

"Wait- I have to drive you back." I say and lift my head up. "It's okay, I'm just gonna call an uber." She says. "No I'll-." She cuts me off. "Shh. It's fine." She stands up and I sigh. "I'll see you." I say tiredly. "Bye." She says and walks out.

Almost right after she leaves, I reach over and turn off my lamp, then I fall asleep.

*1 week later*

I doze off for the 3rd time, but I catch myself and sit up. I try and listen to what the guy is saying, but it's just boring business stuff that I've heard all before. "Remini. What are your thoughts?" Mr.Kessel says. "Um- I agree, I feel as if we need to look out more, and pay more attention to what's going on in our business, rather than so much our personal lives." I say and he nods.

"Right." He says and continues to talk to everyone. I hate going to these monthly meetings, they're boring and quite frankly a waste of my time.

"Alright that's it for today, I'll see you all back tomorrow." He nods and everyone starts to leave. I get my stuff together, and Mr.Kessel comes over and sits beside me.

"How're you Leah?" He asks me. "I'm great. But I'll be even better when I leave here." I smile and he chuckles. "I see. Well I've been meaning to talk to you." He says and I raise one brow.

"Ok?" I say. "Well I heard all the news with you and Air magazine." He starts to say and I roll my eyes since I'm so tired of hearing about this. "And I know you didn't do anything. This isn't Air magazines first time pulling shit like this." He says.

"So I'm willing to give you an offer to shoot you above them." He says. "Keep talking.." I say. "How would you like the business upgrade?" He says and my jaw drops. "I ask you this almost every month and you're just now offering it??" I say.

"Hey- do you want it or not?" He asks. "Yes!- I mean obviously." I say. "Wait-. What's the catch...?" I ask. "There isn't one." He says and I raise my brow, finding that hard to believe.

"So you're just giving this to me?" I ask and he nods happily. "You know you're the best entrepreneur in this room every month, and the youngest which is outstanding. You deserve it. You're ready now." He says and I can't help but get excited.

"So this is the real deal??" I ask making sure this is legit. "Yep. New building, new supplies, new workers if you need them, and a new stock market. All for you." He says and I just listen in awe. 

"And of course, the upgrade party..." He says and my eyes widen. "Oh shit- I forgot about that." I shake my head. The upgrade party is basically a party that everyone throws for the person who gets the business upgrade that month. It's all about them, and it's just a celebratory thing that everyone comes to. I guess this year it'll be for me.

"Not tryna be selfish, but you don't know how much I hated watching people get praised on that stage for the past 2 years, wishing it was me." I shake my head and he chuckles. "I understand." He nods. 

"I'll let everyone now today that you got the upgrade, and we'll start planning the party tomorrow." He nods. "Wow- ok. Thankyou again!" I say and shake his hand. "You won't be disappointed." I point at him after I stand up.

"Oh I know." He smiles and nods, then I leave.

I couldn't be happier right now. I've been waiting for this for so long. It's basically like a promotion, but way bigger and more important.

Another plus is that the upgrade party usually has a lot of important people there, and people from other magazine brands and companies. It's always nice to go and talk to people, but I've never experienced it when the part is for me. I'm excited.

I immediately call Devon and he's ecstatic, he knows that this is a big deal, and of course he gets to come to the party as well.

I call Jennifer too and tell her about it. I explained it more as a promotion to her since she doesn't really know about the business upgrades. But once I explain to her about how I basically level up on everything, she gets really happy and excited. She tells me she's proud of me, then I tell her about the party too, which she definitely wants to go to.

I drive back to my building, and immediately get greeted with a big hug from Devon when I walk in. "This is amazing." He says, hugging me even tighter. "I know, finally a step up from everything." I say and he pulls away. "This'll be good." He nods and I smile. I wish I could see Jennifer today, but she doesn't work on Monday's, unfortunately.

I get home, and take a hot bath. I'm happy with how today went, so I'm just pampering myself right now. I lay my head back and lightly close my eyes. I hear my phone start to ring, so I pick it up off the ground, and see that Jennifer is facetiming me.

"Hey gorgeous." I say once I answer. "Hi baby- are naked? Where are you?" She asks and I giggle. "I'm in the bathtub." I say and she groans. "I wish I could be there with you." She says. "Yeah me too. What're you doing?" I ask.

"Just laying down. But I wanted to hear about your day." She says and lays on her stomach. She's wearing a tank top, and the way she's laying is pushing her boobs up, making the view great.

"It was amazing, obviously." I say. "I'm so happy for you. This sounds like a big deal." She says. "It is." I nod. "I couldn't be prouder of you." She says and I smile.

"Well I'm glad you're gonna be on this journey with me." I say and she smiles. "Me too." She nods. She goes to say something else, but suddenly I hear the sound of a child start to cry.

Jennifer turns her head and sighs. "I'm sorry..I gotta go Lee." She says. "It's okay. I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?" I say. "Yeah. Bye." She says and I hang up.
