Geno was miserable, trapped in the save screen, alone after he killed Frisk, watching the endless genocide, and his brother's death, there was a moment in his life that he could see a bright future, when Reaper came crashing down flirting and proclaiming his love for him and like a moron he believe him that was one of his many mistakes, married him, getting pregnant by him, the miscarriage, his little Goth didn't last a second before he dust, since that moment his relationship with Reaper went down in flames he need space and Reaper too.
Reaper would dissappear for days and come back, their relationships was strained, but they could still make it work, they just have to try hard enough, but Reaper's visits went from a few days to months. And Geno had enough either they make it work or dont and it was clear reaper didn't want their relationship to work.
The next time Geno saw Reaper he confronted him, Reaper was tired, but it was true this has to end, he told him the true, he was only with him because he is a alternative version of his thought to be dead lover and in their separation he found him and want a divorce.
Geno couldn't believed it, he gave him, his time,his love, his affection, he almost gave him a child and this is what he gets. Would he have leave him if the child was still alive? the look in his face told him the truth. Yes, he would have and that was enough for him to throw reaper out and lock the save screen no one should be able to come in so it was his surprise when he sense someone.
Despair was curious The Void would always left him in the codes of Underfell but looking into the codes told him that this is Altertale#1. He knows the sans that live here, Geno if his memory doesn't fail him, their relationship wasn't good or bad they were indifferent with each other, Geno didn't care who they were as long as, they didn't cause trouble in his AU, he didn't even bat a eye when he saw Error, he didn't care. Seen him again was a surprise, he forgotten all about him. The negativity that he was giving was so familiar to him loosing his loves ones, a fail relationship, a miscarriage, he stop at that being caught in a flashback of Cross's death, he knows that felling and could sympathize with him, he decided to stay awhile.
Geno couldn't pinpoint the intruder, he was everywhere, but in one second he didn't feel danger anymore, he knew they were still there, but there wasn't any hostile intent, he try to talk insted, he didn't recibe an answer, he waited however it was clear that whoever was there wasn't going to answer, he went back to work with his guard up and prepared for trouble.
Despair paid no mind to Genos caution, he was smart always have your guard up.
Soon the days became weeks then months and finally years. Geno has long forgotten the day before his new roommate. His presence became necessary, it was normal to have them here with him.
Despair didn't know what was happening, usually he would jump to any source of negativity to feel safe to remember his family even if the memories hurt in the end, they were always beautiful in the beginning, only to end with dust. He knew that it wasn't healthy, he was supposed to let go, move on, but no memories were all he had left, he couldn't lose them too.
With Geno it was different, he could see so much of himself in him, how he tried to save nightmare even if he knew it was inevitable, the loneliness, the lost of a child. Attempt after attempt to make everything better and save. To just be happy, so he stayed and never left.
Geno would talk about anything and he would listen, the only indication Geno had that his roommate understood was a faint emotion and a felling, he ask once, what was their name, what he received was horrifying deep voice straight out of his nightmares that cut out like he was trying to talk but couldn't, it echo everywhere sounding like he crying and screaming at the same time telling him Despair, that was the first time he heard him talk.
Error was tired, Inky had gone into a creative spread so intense that he had to delete originals to maintain the balance, he was running out of time, he made a portal to the next au Altertale#1, he didn't like destroying originals but he has no choice.
Despair didn't see it coming, Error never had destroy a original, even if this isn't exactly "the first", the original was gone so the next in line takes the title, which is this one. He wondered what was going on outside, he stop looking the codes after a month, it most be going pretty bad for Error to do this. He was sad, he had a understanding with Geno.
Geno fought the destroyer with all he had, but he wasn't strong enough, everything was going smoothly, he had a new friend and was closer to stopping the human once and for all and now this happen, he just couldn't catch a break his AU was being deleted, HE was getting deleted and for a second he gave up a life of suffering wasn't worth living, and yet his thoughts drift to a horrifying voice and their friendship, he thought of Despair, how he hasn't abandoned him like everyone else and he was filled with Determination.
The Void sense his child's friend when he fell they were going to give him back, after all he was their only child's friend and they couldn't have ther children sad, but stop at what they saw, he was fighting, he wants to go back, he wants to spend time with their child, he wants to be with their child. The Void was happy, overjoyed a friend that would never leave their child, they saw how he struggled and glitch to get out, burning with determination and thought he was perfect, they watched him get out and knew that he would be fine.
Despair watched the battle unfold and thought Error needed to free space, this AU have to be destroyed, but that doesn't mean that Geno had to die just his AU. His thought process was interrupted the second Error open the au codes, he fled.
He was a parasite a virus just like his Fresh, but unlike him, he could possess the codes of the au itself, he fuse with them, he could be anywhere he wanted the underground, the surface, the past, the future, he could see everything be anywhere and nowhere, he just have to think about, however he had to be in the au, that's why he could only control one at the time.
He teleport to Underfell and waited, when he confirmed that Altertale#1 was in the void he prepared the portal, just as the portal open a gliching skeleton came out, by the way he was gliching he could have mistaken him for Error but the colors were wrong, he could tell this was Geno, his friend, he would recognize his aura anywere and in any form, he teleport them to his cave in waterfall it was perfectly hidden from the codes and the residents of the AU and let Geno rest.
