Ages and ages away from home, the North Pole was alive and buzzing with activity from inside. And inside, North himself was busy inventing a train set crafted by ice in his workshop, marvelling over his work and munching on cookies his elves carried over, their golden bells on their upturned red hats jingling. The moment didn't last for long though; as the train jetpacked towards the door, one of his Yetis swung the door open, smashing the toy ice vehicle in the process. North gasped and moaned in despair, the Yeti imitating him and groaning. North sighed, bringing his hands to his face.
"How many times have I told you to knock?!"
The Yeti pointed to behind him, exclaiming in his own speech.
"What? The Globe?"
North hurried off towards it, grabbing a small sword and ushering away his elves that stood scattered around him in the room.
"Shoo with your pointy heads - why are you always under boot?" North frowned and looked up at the globe and it's small, bright golden specks that marked the belief of children around the world. Groups of them were dying out, losing their colour. North's frown deepened.
"What is this?" he murmured to himself. "Have you checked the axis? Is rotation balanced?"
North's Yetis shrugged and shook their heads helplessly. Suddenly, black snake-like dust began to envelop the globe, consuming it as the elves dashed around in surprise beneath him. North's eyes widened in shock, papers and bits and pieces flying around before dropping to the ground simultaneously with the dust, spinning out and exploding. The dark dust swept about the workshop before taking the form of a man, laughing evilly before disappearing.
"Can it be?" North whispered. He then turned around, calling out to his elf. "Dingle. Make preparations. We are going to have company."
Turning and pushing down a lever, the globe lit up various colours, pinks and greens, and parachuting off into the sky.
Back near home, a child lay asleep in his bed, unconscious to the Baby Tooth flying around him and sliding the tooth out from under his pillow, leaving a gold coin in its place, bringing it back to the Tooth Fairy, Toothania. Placing the tooth in its place, another flew to the Tooth Fairy with a small tooth, and she gasped in adoration.
"Wait, it's her first tooth! Have you ever seen a more adorable lateral incisor in all of your life?! Look how she flossed!"
A Baby Tooth squeaked and looked up to the skies, and the Fairy gasped upon seeing the signal, immediately flying out to it.
Above a sleeping child, the Sandman, or Sandy, conjured a dream above them with his sparkling gold dust, standing upon his cloud. Looking up at the northern lights, Sandy descended and flew to it in a makeshift plane.
In another faraway location, the Easter Bunny, Bunnymund, sprinted to the North Pole,
It is our job to watch over the children of the world and keep them safe. To bring wonder, hope, and dreams. And so I have called us all here for one reason and one reason only. The children are in danger. An enemy we have kept at bay for centuries has decided to strike back. We alone can stop him.
Bunnymund looked up triumphantly before shivering and rubbing his furry arms with his hands in disapproval.
"Ugh, it's freezing! I can't feel my feet!"
"This better be good, North," Bunnymund said in annoyance.
"Sandy, thank you for coming. I know, I know - I wouldn't have called you here unless it was serious. The Boogeyman was here! At the Pole!"
Toothania hushed her Baby Tooths and gasped. "Pitch? Pitch Black? Here?"
"Yes! There was black sand covering the Globe."
"Wait, w-what do you mean, 'black sand'?" Bunnymund enquired.
"And then a shadow!" North added, dramatically gesturing.
"Hold on, hold on" the Bunny interrupted, "I thought you said you saw Pitch."
"Well, uh," North struggled, "not exactly..."
"Not exactly? Can you believe this guy?"
Sandy raised a glittering gold question mark above his head, shrugging. Bunnymund nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. You said it, Sandy."
"Look, he's up to something very bad," North explained. "I feel it. In my belly."
"Hang on, hang on. You mean to say you summoned me here three days before Easter because of your belly?" Bunnymund questioned in disbelief. "Mate, if I did this to you three days before Christmas..."
"Please, Bunny," North interrupted, raising his hand, "Easter is not Christmas."
The Bunny laughed sarcastically. "Here we go. North, I don't have time for this! I've still got two million eggs to finish up!"
"No matter how much you paint, its still egg," North told him, as Sandy noticed the moon moving in the sky, shining its light. As the two argued, Sandy struggled to get their attention - finally grabbing an elf and shaking him with a frown. When the others looked, he pointed impatiently to the moon.
Ah! Man in Moon! Sandy, why didn't you say something?" North asked, to Sandy anger.
"It's been a long time, old friend!" North called with a smile, "What is big news?"
The Man shone the moon's light down to the guardian stone, revealing the shadow of Pitch.
"It is Pitch," the Bunny murmured, and North patted his stomach, proving his previous point.
"Manny, what must we do?"
The guardian stone went down and opened, bringing up a large glowing diamond, illuminated by moonlight.
"Uh, guys, you know what this means?" The Tooth Fairy asked, and North's eyes widened in wonder.
"He's choosing a new Guardian."
"What?" Bunnymund frowned. "Why?"
"Must be big deal. Manny thinks we need help."
"Since when do we need help?" The Bunny responded.
"I wonder who it's gonna be!" Tooth said excitedly. A clover appeared above Sandy's head as he grinned.
"Maybe a Leprechaun?"
"Please not the Groundhog, please not the Groundhog," the Easer Bunny muttered pleadingly as he stared.
The bright, blue-white light finally revealed two glittering figures - that of a girl with wavy hair to her ribs and a striped top, with a shorts dungarees and Converse shoes. The other was a boy with a hood covering his head and a staff in one hand.
"Jack Frost," North said in surprise. "But who is the other?"
Sandy shrugged and shook his head questioningly.
"Uh, I take it back. The Groundhog's fine," Bunnymund said as he stared at Jack's image.
"As long as they help to protect the children, right?" Tooth said encouragingly, examining the projections. "The girl looks pretty. I wonder who she is?"
"Jack Frost?! He doesn't care about children!" the Bunny exclaimed. "All right - all he does is freeze water pipes and mess with my egg hunts! I bet the girl's no better. All right?- he's an irresponsible, selfish..."
"Guardian," North finished with an approving nod.
"Jack Frost is many things, but he is not a Guardian," Bunnymund declared.
"Who is that girl?" North muttered to himself, shaking his head with a puzzled frowned as he inspected.
"We're gonna find out!" Tooth said with a grin.
