"Could I steal Ban so he can cook for me?" Elizabeth said after greedily swallowing a mouthful of golden potatoes that tasted blissful in her mouth. "Didn't realise I missed his food this much."

Elaine laughed as Ban grinned, "He's baked lemon drizzle cake for dessert! It smelt amazing yesterday," she sniffed the air, button nose perked and furrowed her brows, "Ban, where is it?"

"Hiding from you," he replied, smirking and stood to grab Elizabeth's and Elaine's empty plates. "Ladies, I'll get it now~" he bowed mockingly, leaving the dining room through the archway, carrying three dishes in his hands.

"What a perfect waiter," Elizabeth mumbled, "remember when he made ol' Hendy a double-chocolate cake because he forgot to write his essay?"

Elaine giggled, shaking her head, "can't believe he got away with that. He could've finished his work in the time that took to bake."

Elizabeth laughed, muscles relaxing into her cushioned chair. They occupied a circular, mahogany table, a vase containing lavenders and decorated in intricate swirls in the middle. Behind Elaine were two pale velvet sofas accompanying mountains of multi-coloured cushions. A fuzzy grey carpet on the floor, the type that tickles your toes, and a TV fastened to the wall. The sides glazed with wavy-marble wallpaper, and three lights protruded from the white ceiling, shining above the space.

Elaine scooted towards the table, resting her elbows on the rim and plopped her face onto her smooth palms. "Ellie." She stated.

Elizabeth tilted her head, drumming her fingers on the border of the surface. "Elaine."

She strummed her appendages against her cheeks, a smile on her face and looking deeply into her friend's azure eyes, "How are you?" She finally asked, voice more soothing than before.

"Uhh-I'm good! You?"

Elaine shook her head, blonde locks swaying on her delicate shoulders, "'I'm good,' yeah yeah," she mocked, "...are you sure?"

Elizabeth lifted a brow, "Why wouldn't I be good?" So, this must be why Elaine invited her- for interrogation over something that was probably useless.

The blonde leaned away, hesitant on how to form her next sentence. "I know for a fact that Veronica didn't call you four days ago with Diane-" Elizabeth opened her mouth to question Elaine's doubt in her excuse, ready to defend her case when she's halted.

"-Because you told us the day before that Veronica had started touring Mexico." She folded her arms, a crafty smirk on her face.

She stared incredulously as the proud fact left Elaine's mouth because she was right. Absolutely right. Veronica and Griamore were currently frolicking in Mexico, visiting unique wonders and dining on splendid cuisine, but that didn't prove anything against her. Elaine's chin lifted, and her chest puffed out in a manner that exuded confidence.

"The call came at around half 10, yeah?" Elizabeth calmly nodded, "and in Mexico, the time would be around half 5 in the morning-"

She froze as Elaine droned on about how Veronica would never voluntarily wake that early, about how she preferred getting ready for the day at around 10 in the morning and, once again, annoyingly, she was correct, resulting in a flush rushing down Elizabeth's neck as her mind scrambled to find a suitable excuse-
