'You are staying here.' Mr. Kim announced his decision. The family took the time to mourn the son's death at their outskirt penthouse. A set of eyes glanced at Hyuna, and she did not know how to respond to the sudden attention she was receiving.'In Korea?' Hyuna felt startled by the conversation. It was the first sentence her father spoke after years of no communication between them. Mr. Kim gave a nod and continued stuffing his ashtray with an endless chain of cigarette butts.
The museum crew interrupted Hyuna's train of thought. They were called on brief notice to fetch paintings for the gallery. 'Thank you for helping us today.' Hyuna gave a sad smile as the movers had already arrived to shift her last art pieces to the auction warehouse.
'Have you seen the artist? I heard no one knows.' one of the workers asked their head curator. 'In the last six years, all I met was Mr. Jinki and Miss Hyuna.' the curator informed, his voice hinting that he gave up to know this mysterious million-seller artist.
'They are beautiful.' the crew stopped and stared at a few works on the studio walls, before proceeding to cover each with bubble wrap. Jinki smiled at how everyone complimented the paintings, but his response faded a little, watching Hyuna a bit too emotional to let go of her last paintings.
'Why is this her last work? Her works are gaining interest among the buyers. Will she not continue it?' the curator enquired, Hyuna handing in some papers to sign off as they were leaving the gallery.
'She is moving back to her native.' Hyuna hinted as the pen glided off to finish her initials. 'Where is that?' the curator questioned, checking the paperwork.
'Ko-' Hyuna was cut off as Jinki butted in abruptly. 'Spain.' Jinki corrected a distracted Hyuna, who was almost about to reveal herself to the real details of the infamous señorita.
'We have got management there. If she ever wishes to continue, please let us know. It was a pleasure working with you, Miss Hyuna. Give my bests to ma'am.' the curator said as he shook hands with her and Hyuna gave a slight nod.
'When are we going back?' Hyuna asked, not looking away from the disappearing truck filled with her found memories. 'Tomorrow morning,' Jinki informed as Hyuna took slow steps back towards the studio.
'Can I have a moment?' Hyuna asked knowing Jinki would comply. 'I'll wait in the car.' The bodyguard could sense the emotion, even though she did not openly express it.
Leaving Paris was like leaving behind a part of her. Korea, even though it was her country, felt foreign. The studio was her second home, welcomed her with open arms. The whole atmosphere was filled with the smell of paints and subtle lavenders from the vase.
Hyuna laid down on the marble flooring. Her eyes turned moist while blinking at the chandelier. Jinki got it specially made when the first painting sold.
It was props to him, she could maintain the dual life. For others, she was just another art student, but only Jinki understood her potential. Afraid of fame affecting the Kim household, Hyuna took to anonymity. She could never expose her true identity unless her dad did.
Hyuna turned the doorknob to make sure it was locked. The single key is tucked safely inside her jeans pockets. After a deep breath, she touched the adjacent window, taking one last view of the studio. 'This is goodbye, señorita.'
