The days were long and all a huge blur. Sometimes I would get a gleams of me fighting or killing. Mostly killing.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Your champion is back! ASHLEY!" Someone announced. I stepped into a caged ring. People cheered. Kids and teens watched sadly and some had fear in their faces from seeing me.
"Fighters you have five minutes to what may be the last moments of your life!" Someone announced. I looked at my opponent in front of me. She looked to be seven and she was curled up next to the cage wall crying. I walked over to her and kneeled down.
"What's your name?" I asked. She looked up at me but didn't say a word.
"I'm scared too. Nobody should be here. I never wanted to hurt people." I explained. I kissed her on the forehead and she looked up at me and smiled. She then got up and kissed me on the ear. For a second happiness filled me.
"I see you have the same power as me." I smiled. I then started to tear up a bit and quickly hugged her.
"I don't want to kill you. So please, if you can. Kill me first." I cried under my breath.
"Fighters to your corners!" someone yelled. I went back to my side and stared at the ground.
"GO!"
I remember running at her and then all went dark.
~~~~~I woke up in my ceiling being held by someone. My head pounded. I looked and found the girl holding me. A smile came across her face once our eyes met.
"My name is Zola. I made both of us pass out. They can't control me in a cave. The caves are a part of me. Your brain probably hurts. You've been hurt here many times in different ways. You're always scared and feel helpless here." She smiled and put her hand on my head.
"You're older than you look, aren't you?" I asked. She nodded.
"Then you know a lot about me. How did..." I didn't finish. My eyes closed and I didn't feel like I was in the cave anymore. I felt free.
"Thank you." I smiled, opening my eyes.
"Our people will always be with you." She smiled. I sat up. She spotted the boy in the corner. She ran over and sat beside him. The boy looked tense. Zola put a hand on the side of his cheek. The boy looked at her in confusion. Zola then took his hand with her other hand and the boys defences fell.
"Come on." She whispered leading out of the corner. She then hugged him and held him close like a mother. She started rubbing his head and spoke in another language. The boy's eyes began to close, but he kept trying to keep them open. A minute later he was out.
"We should help and heal people not hurt them." She whispered.
"I agree. Zola why me?" I questioned. She looked over at me.
"You were a very curious little girl. There are many reasons, but I don't remember them all. If she had to choose someone to rule next it would be you." Zola explained, then laying the boy gently on the ground. She came over and sat next to me.
"It's alright. Let them out." She kindly spoke. At first I thought let what out? Tears ran from my eyes and I hugged her.
"You need to feel honey. If you don't you'll stop living." she hugged back.
"Then what am I supposed to do." I sobbed.
"Smile anyway and try to look for and remember the happy simple things. Think of what you can do and remember the people who were always there for you, who love and care about you. Your life is hard but not over so get back up. To get this far means you're strong and are strong enough to get through it." She replied.
