(A/N HeyHeyHey! I see you, reading a gay squib fanfiction! I'm not judging or anything, I'm only writing this because I wanted more GogglesxRider content, haha...)

~Goggles POV~

I'm kind of nervous for my first day... I'm going to my new school today. I heard it's near Inkopolis Plaza, so maybe I can sneak a peek at some inklings playing turf war? I feel excited at the thought, my smile growing. One day I'll have my own team of my best friends ever and we'll win all the turf wars!!

I glance at Grandma, who is riding the train with me so I don't go alone. She made sure to pack my backpack with everything I need, including extra clothes just in case mine go missing again, heh...

I kept spacing out until my grandma pats my semi-slimy head and says, "We're here, Goggles." I look up at her wrinkled face and smile, noticing she was smiling at me as well. "Come on, I'll walk you in."

I take Grandma's hand and she leads me out of the train, and into the school. I can't read very well, so I ask Grandma what the sign in front of the school says. "It says, 'Craig Cuttlefish Elementary School. Did you know it was named after a very brave war veteran from the Great Turf War? Rumor has it he's still alive today, keep your eye out." Grandma winked at me.

I smile and walk into the building, I'm not a sucker for history, but the Great Turf War has me dumbfounded when I think about it. Why do us inklings and the octarians have to fight over territory? Wouldn't it be much simpler and more fun to share turf together? I started to space out again but Grandma kindly pats me on the head and points at a door we're standing in front of.

"That's your class, dear. Have fun, make sure to make lots of friends." She kneels down and gives me a great big hug, which I return, smiling. "I will, gramma!" I shout excitedly and Grandma opens the door for me. Instantly a bazillion or something inky faces turn to my direction. I grin and wave good-bye to grandma.

The classroom was bright and colorful. rainbow splatters litter the ground, but I know that's just residue from the other kids' heads. There was the alphabet posted on the walls, along with the numbers 1 to 20. There were colourful shaped cut out and posted on the walls.

I glanced over to the kids sitting in groups of 4, then to the inkling at the front of the room. I assume she's the teacher, mainly because she's the only one in the room in their full inkling form. She's got long, purple tentacles, wearing a cerulean t-shirt, and purple camo pants, banana basics, and a blowfish bell hat.

"Ah, you must be Goggles, correct?" the teacher smiled at him sweetly, which I return. "Mhm! Sure am!" I confirm. "My name is Ms. Bell Hat!" The teacher then clapped her hands, further grabbing the attention of my new classmates. "I would like you all to stand up and introduce yourselves once I call your name! You can sit back down once everyone is standing."

The teacher then began calling names. I hope I can be friends with everyone. I pay attention as everyone's names are called, making sure I remember everyone so it's not awkward when I go and talk to them. The teacher calls until only two inklings are left sitting down; a smiling blue girl, and... a grumpy-looking yellow-green guy. My smile fades. Why isn't he happy? Doesn't he like me?

"Bobble Hat?" Ms. Bell Hat called. The blue girl stood up, still smiling. "Haiiiii~!!!" She waves at me. "Hai-Hai~!!!" I smile and wave back. I'm happy someone is being friendly. I already made a friend! Yay! I hear someone let out an annoyed "Tch.."

I glance to the students and see the yellow-green boy with a disgusted look... Why, I wonder? "Rider?" Ms. Bell Hat calls. The last sitting inkling stands up, crossing his yellow-green arms, letting a drop of ink fall to the floor.
