(~Many years later, ???? POV~)
A squid was walking down a dark hallway of a semi-familiar building. His hand clutched his chest in fright, screams and crying was heard at the end of the hall, but he couldn't stop approaching them. The squid saw drips of yellow-green ink, more vibrant and sticky than usual scattered around the halls. His eyes widened at the sight, knowing from school that was the ink that flowed through an inkling's veins, keeping them alive. His hearts started beating rapidly, and the squid was afraid he might burst into a puddle of blue ink if it kept up for too long.
His eyes darted across the dark hallway, hearing the screams get louder until he saw a dark figure standing over the mangled body of a yellow-green inkling. The squid stared in horror at a horrified expression on the dead inkling. The squid thought he looked familiar but half of his face got ripped off, so he couldn't tell. The figure got up and put it's hands, sharp at the ends, on the squid's shoulders and dug in.
"You failed your little quest...Look what happened now..." It's dark, empty face suddenly grew a toothy grin. "Now you get to lie dead next to him." It ripped it's hand off of the squid's shoulder and plunged it into the inkling's chest, ripping out a heart and splattering blue ink everywhere.
I shot up out of bed, clutching my chest like I had been in my dream. I had been having similar dreams for about a month now... Every night I see the dead, mangled face of the inkling and every day I pretend it hadn't bothered me. But today... I can't take it anymore. I'm late to practice every day because of these nightmares. I'm planning on telling my teammates today.
I get out of my bed and Grab my headgear from my nightstand. Putting on my goggles, I tie up my tentacles and leave my room. I grab my jar of pickled plums, ones my grandma hand-made for me, so I can have a snack on my way. I go out the door and make my way to Inkopolis Plaza. I go in squid form to be quicker as I am already late and the train would take too long to wait for.
I rush through the streets, not bothering to look where I'm going as I do. I feel a chill as the wind rushes past me, smiling as I think of how my friends will help me with my nightmares, but my smile faded quickly as i did. I started imagining the inkling again. I don't know why he keeps appearing dead in my dreams. Does that mean anything? I might look it up later.
I crash into a pole without warning, clutching my head with my tentacles as I do for a brief moment before rushing off again. I'm almost there, about half an hour late but it's better than never. I can see my friends in the distance as I approach, hearing the announcement of the CoroCoro Cup beginning.
My team was supposed to meet earlier for a few practice matches but I guess now we're going straight into this. I swim up to my friends and say, "Hey guys!" My friends look towards me and one of my childhood friends, Headphones, points at me and says "There he is." Specs, our team leader, seemed astonished I could take so long to get here. "You're late!" He pointed out.
I transform to my inkling form, scratching the back of my head sheepishly and smiling. "Sorry, sorry. I overslept."
Next thing I know, Headphones, one of my childhood friends, slaps me across the face and yells "I told you to wear clothes, didn't I?!" I frown down at myself, finding out that I did indeed forget to put on my clothes this morning. "I thought I felt a breeze!"
A few minutes later I came back with my clothes, my Armor Jacket Replica, shorts and my Hero Runner Replicas. "Sorry I'm late...I can't wait for the tournament to start!" I exclaimed. I had taken a deep breath, preparing to vent to my teammates about my dreams when I was cut off by a team of inkling gasping and pointing in our direction.
