The boys are going after Happy.
I shot up from the couch and Nestor fell the to ground from my lap. He shot up alert, looking for danger as I stared at Marisol.
"Where are they now?" I asked her.
Leaving Stockton.
"I have to go. Angel and EZ are about to do something really stupid." I told Nestor as I kissed him and made my way upstairs to change.
"Want me to come?" He asked voice full of hope as he followed me and I chuckled.
"You're on Dita babysitting duty aren't you?" I asked knowing he wouldn't volunteer to deal with MC bullshit unless what he was doing was worse.
"It's bullshit. I didn't leave the navy to be a fucking bag holder." He growled and I felt a hint of resentment below the surface of annoyance.
"It's not going to be forever my love." I said as I turned to face him from packing my duffle bag. "She barely survived the fire, I could visit her and see how long she's got."
He scoffed and pulled my hips towards him, leaning into my back. "Don't even joke, it would give me too much hope."
I zipped up the bag and turned around to face Nestor. I hated leaving him, I never knew what state I would find him in when I got home. Sometimes it was new scars, sometimes it was a brooding somber mood. Those were harder than the physical wounds.
"Don't do anything foolish while I'm gone. God knows what I'm going to find when I get to Happy's. I don't need to worry about you too." I said holding his face in my hands.
"You'll worry about me either way." He said pulling my hands down to hold them in his. "I'll be fine, it's not like a 70 year old can cause that much trouble."
I wasn't convinced but I needed to hit the road so I just nodded and let him take my bag as he walked me to our car. My poor SUV had been dealt a death blow by a drunk driver last month so I was using the Porsche Panamera he said he brought for himself but strangely never drove it. I knew his game, if he said it was for me I would never have accepted the extravagant gift.
"If you see your father, remind him he still hasn't paid up." Nestor said as he opened the door for me.
"Good luck with that." I snorted at the thought of the monthly poker night we held here at home. "Just stop lending him money."
"But he thinks he can count cards and it's funny to see him lose." He practically pouted. "It's like watching a gorilla throw a tantrum."
"Well I need to go before that gorilla throws a tantrum because the Reyes brothers killed Happy." I said closing the door and putting the window down. "I love you."
"Love you too." He said before stealing another kiss through the window.
I put my sunnies on and pulled out of our driveway heading north. Marisol came and went, giving me updates as I sped along the freeway well above the limit. The boys were already at Happy's house but he hadn't arrived yet. To top it off he wasn't answering his goddamn phone either, which meant he was riding.
