The bell rings in art and I pick up my bag and hurry out the doors to get in the queue for break. I get pushed about in the queue repeatedly before I'm finally realised from the tight group of school pupils. I pay for my cookie and water and head over to my usual spot.
"Hey" I smile, sitting down next to Adira. They all reply with a slight smile while chewing on their food. I take a sip of my water and rip open my cookie wrapper and break a small piece off dropping it into my mouth. I would honestly eat our school cookies every day for the rest of my life if I could. I dip under the table trying to reach for my bag to see what I have next. I cling onto the strap and pull it up.
I jump when I notice Toby is sitting next to me smiling like a psychopath. He holds his hand out in front of me not losing his creepy smile. I high-five him making him chuckle and making his physco smile turn cute and happy.
"Cookie please Cass" he widens his eyes a couple times at my cookie. I sigh once I release that I had to give him it for telling me what I said last time. I grab it and place it in his hand and give him a sarcastic smile. He tightens his grip on the cookie returning my sarcastic smile.
"Thank you! See you in pe" he winks before leaving. He turns around while he's walking away so he's walking backwards looking me right in the eye before taking a huge bite into that biscuit I so desperately wanted to enjoy. He exaggerates how good it tastes then swings back around, walking away holding the cookie high enough for me to see.
"Dick" I mutter under my breath knowing he won't hear.
At least I know what I have next now."Why did you just give him your cookie. You've never even gave us a little bit" Thomas complains.
"I promised him if he truthfully told me what I said to him last night while I was drunk out my mind I'd give him that cookie he requested" I explained to all there annoyed/confused faces.
"Still not cool Cassy" Thomas wines shaking his head. I laugh and drink my water quick enough so I finish it before the bell goes off.We all say our goodbyes and Adira and Thomas head to whatever class they have and Alina and I head to pe. I quite like sports. I look sorta sporty, I guess. I would be the top girl in our class that tries and gets really stuck into any sport we do.
We are doing ruby right now and I love yet hate it. I hate it because I'm a girl. The girls and the boys get split up because apparently the girls are to 'weak' to play with the guys. So because of that, I end up getting stuck with all the Barbie doll, bitchy, fake girls that couldn't even catch or throw a ball properly to save them selves even though my pe teacher, Mr Lankshire knows I would be able to cope with the rough guys.
"Abbie have you got a brush and any perfume with you today?" Sophie, the leader of the popular crew asks Abbie in the changing rooms. Abbie rumbles around in her bag and pulls both of the products out and throws them at Sophie.
"Jesus Abbie!" She death glares at Abbie. I notice Abbie rolling her eyes slightly and turning around and leaving the group.
Abbie seems quite sweet and innocent, she doesn't act like the girls she hangs around with at all. She more casual and laid back and doesn't get worked up on a broken nail or dirt on her new shoes. She really should see what crap she's putting herself through by just being with them at school with them.
I choke at the sudden strong scent of some expensive perfume. I grab my inhaler and breath a few times, helping my lungs out a little.
"You alright?"Alina asks.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine" I control my breathing.
"New shoes huh?" Alina looks at my shoes. I bought them the other day, I really needed a new good updated pair. So I bought these black, white and yellow nike running shoes for any exercise I do. They are extremely comfy.
"Cute aren't they" I smile picking up my leg taking a closer look. Just because I'm not a popular bitch doesn't mean I can't love and worry about the way I look. I just don't announce it to the whole world like they do.
--------
I clutch the sudden ball that just got harshly thrown at my face. I pass it over to Rebecca and decide to do a few laps around the field to get away from the squeal of girls.
My breathing becomes heavier and heavier as I jog further around the field.
Once I'm just past half way, I stop. I bend over holding my thighs and hang my head in between my legs that are far apart breathing in and out slowly. I hear footsteps coming towards me hoping it's not for Mr Lankshire to complain about how I should stick to less activities that make it hard to breath because of my need of an inhaler. Luckily it wasn't him and for once I was glad to hear Toby's voice.
"Hey, you okay?" He taps my back a few times before rubbing circles.
"Just. a little. out of...breath" I say between breaths.
"A little?" He laughs. I look up at him and let out a slight laugh. I push my body up and stand straight.
"Why aren't you doing Ruby?" Toby asks me.
"I hate doing it with those annoying girls. I like 2 out of 14 of them. And my Mr Lankshire doesn't let me do it with you guys because you're too rough and I'm apparently too weak" i cross my arms over my body leaning over ever so slightly on my right leg.
"Well to be fair, I can play rough" Toby smirks. I hit his arm and start walking with him around the rest of the field.
"No seriously, I'm tough. I've been in lots of.....fights. Most I don't like to talk about" he turns his head in disappointment.
"Fights huh?" I smirk.
"I'd call them more than fights but I don't want to talk about it" he sighs.
"Why? You get beat up all the time?"
"No," he says plain, simple and fast, "my life's more complicated than you think Cassandra".~~~~~~~~~~~~~
