College was... actually pretty okay. There were these pretentious girls in pink who thought they ruled everything, which was obviously wrong; I ruled everything. I managed to put them in their place, though. All it took was slapping that African redhead in the face and she backed off.
I was rooming with Duke and Mac was rooming with Veronica. Martha Dumptruck was here as well, rooming with Betty Finn. A lot of people from Westerbrug had ended up going up here. They had a lot of different majors.
Veronica was doing some literature thing with Bo Diddley, Duke was doing creative writing, Mac was majoring in music and minoring in business, and I was majoring in law. It wasn't really my choice (my father expected me to carry on the family legacy), but it was interesting so far.
Duke was hanging out with someone named Christine who was majoring in theatre. So that's why it was me who had to answer the door when someone knocked softly on it. The Chinese shouldn't be here yet... I thought.
Mac was standing there, a textbook, binder, and pencil bag in one hand and a ukulele in the other. "Veronica and J.D. are, uh... busy in our dorm. Can I stay here?"
"Sure," I said. I could never say no to Mac. "I ordered Chinese. You can have Heather's share, she's staying over at Christine's dorm." Heather raised an eyebrow, setting her stuff down on Heather's bed.
"Christine? I know her, Christine Canigula? Yeah, she's in that musical they're doing, Hamilton! She's Eliza. The one in blue," she clarified. I could never remember them. There was a pink one, a blue one, a yellow one, and a red one. Duke was pretty mad when she learned there wasn't a green one.
"Really? Maybe we should see it. I'm sure Heather will want us to come. She's been spending an awful lot of time with her," I said, winking. Mac blushed a little. We were in college, and she still got flustered about the idea of sex.
She looked so cute. Bright red face against white blonde hair. Green eyes that weren't like the dark greens Duke wore, but were sea green, a bright, sparkling green.
"Heather..?" I was staring. I couldn't not. I had been fighting these feelings for years, ever since I had seen her on the first day of junior year. I could never bring myself to tell her to shut up, like I did with Duke.
I grabbed her shoulders and pressed my lips to hers. I felt her stiffen and was halfway through pulling back, when her arms wrapped around me and pulled me off the bed, onto the floor.
I couldn't breathe, but I definitely wasn't pulling back. Mac was the one pulling back, a shy expression on her face. It was almost intoxicating, kissing her. I never wanted it to end. We slowly leaned in again, but there was knocking on the door. Duke? We went quiet.
"Hello? Chinese order for Heather?" I rolled my eyes, pushing myself up. Mac whined a little bit.
"Way to ruin the moment," I grumbled, grabbing my red and white striped wallet. "No tip for you. Stupid Panda Express."
