* 10:00 AM *
It is graduation day, and I am super pumped up! In the back of my head, of course, I'm thinking about it being my last day with everyone I love but I don't wanna dwell on the bad news so today is all about positivity! This morning at around 6:00 am, I got an alert that a news reporter broadcasted about Jace being alive and well so yeah, my phone has been off the hook for the rest of the morning. Zane called me in the middle of the night a ton of times but I didn't answer.
Dad barges in the room with tons of balloons and a big teddy bear and my heart leaps. "Good morning Valedictorian... Today is your graduation day! I am so proud of you!! " he yells. He is such a caring person, I love him so much and he's probably going to be the person I miss the most. Behind him follows my mom and baby Milo so I jump out of bed to hug all of them with tears falling out of my eyes and a big huge smile. In the midst of the family moment, my phone is ringing and I just know it's Jazlynn! I get my phone and I answer " It's graduation day! We did it! Now it's time to look good and feel good. This is our time we deserve it I can't wait to see you later!" she yells. I laugh at her because she is screaming so much. " Well... I can't wait to spend the day with you guys! Mom planned a graduation dinner for all of us later so I'm excited" I reply. We draw silent for a moment because we both know after today we all won't be together again. "Today is all about positive vibes so I'll see you in a few and we're gonna crank this shit up today!" she says cheerfully. I hang up from her and crack a huge smile for today shall be the start of something new.
" Honey come on let's go before you'll be late!" yells mom from downstairs. I take one last glimpse of my room and hurry downstairs to meet the others. Oo's and Ah's fill the air as I walk down the stairs for I am in my red cap and gown. Today I decided to drive alone and let my parents and baby brother ride with Esteban. I wanted to take the time to drive with my friends alone after graduation. As Esteban drives dad's car and leads the way out of the driveway I looked back in my rearview mirror at the house and become a little sad. But in due time all things will come together... I hope.
Approaching the school's parking lot, it is filled with tons of graduates and tons of parents and I am super happy. Bitch we made it! Esteban manages to find a parking spot faster than I do but somehow I skim the parking lot and I can see Jazlynn holding the same parking spot as the first day of school. After parking, I take a deep breath before I get out of the car and... holy shit... I'm valedictorian and I didn't even have time to write a damn speech, fuck! I've been too busy with all of the stuff I forgot the most important thing for today.
While I'm stressing in the car Jazlynn opens up my car door and asked why am I just sitting inside. "Jazlynn, hey. I have a problem..." I said as she looks confused at me. " what happen now Kar? " she asked suspiciously. I tell her about my speech and she laughs historically. By her laughter, I laugh too. "Man I'm all over the place but it's okay if I'm a valedictorian this year, I damn sure could just make up a speech on the spot, right?!" I said. She smiles and I get out of the car to hug her. I'm super proud of us after everything we've been through. " Jace! Jace! Can we get your story, please! What has happened!" a paparazzi yells. He fans them off and runs to me. I jump on him because I missed him so much! We hold our hug for a long while until I break it off. Jazlynn looks a bit scared to say anything to Jace and honestly, I don't blame her. But, Jace has a super big heart, and that's what I love most about him. He grabs Jazlynn to hug her and she feels better about it. " Truthfully I'm not even supposed to be over here talking to you too but I don't even care I need you to fill me in on everything, Karmaa" he says but I nod and smile.
