The new patient!

Dr. Young sat at her desk, thinking about her Titan Project and how it'll help all of the different types of patients at Arkham.

She wondered how much more of her research will be funded by Mr. White, her financer, and how long it'll take for her project to fully mature into something wonderful. The thought of all the crazy people at Arkham getting cured excited her! For too long there had been so many 'super-criminals' in Gotham City and it needed to be stopped. They didn't accept help from any of the doctors here and most would rather escape. Now was time for a change and the only way for that to happen was the Titan Project!

"Dr. Young?" Asked a male voice at her door.

She wondered who that could be? There weren't any records of a session today.

The doctor walked up to her door and opened it. She saw an Arkham guard at the door.

"What is it?" Asked Dr. Young.

"The Warden wants to see you, he said that there was important information to be discussed." Said the guard.

Inside her mind, Dr. Young was excited because that meant that he wanted to talk about Project Titan!

"Thank you, I'll be there in a second." She said to the guard.

Once her door was closed, Dr. Young scooped up as many files on Project Titan she could find and raced out the door. She walked through the mansion and ran into a few guards, but Dr. Young didn't say hello.

Finally, she made it to the Warden's Office and saw Quincy Sharp talking to Dr. Fraser. He was one of the newer doctors that were just an intern. She recalled the time that she once was an intern. It was an amazing experience, but Dr. Young has had years of training and was in her early thirties by the time she was selected as Head of Research at Arkham. It was an important job and one that she took great pride in!

"Mr. Sharp for the last time no!" Said Dr. Fraser.

Dr. Young watched the young blonde doctor get angry at the Warden for what appeared to be no reason.

"Please, Dr. Fraser. This patient is very important." Argued Quincy Sharp.

"That thing isn't a patient he is a monster! He drove eleven doctors insane and I am not going to be the next one!"

"Johnathon is just a patient, he deserves to be treated just like everyone else." The Warden got close to the doctor and put his hand on the intern's shoulder. "Think about it? It could also look great for your career."

"Sorry, but no! There are two patients I won't take; him and The Joker!" Said Dr. Fraser.

As soon as he walked away, Dr. Young went over to the warden. "Mr. Sharp, I heard that you wanted to talk to me?"

The Warden smiled. "Hello, Penelope Young. I have to ask you a very important question?"

Dr. Young crossed her arms. "I don't want the case."

"C'mon Dr. Young! He's just a normal freak!" Argued the warden.

"Mr. Sharp, you know I don't appreciate you or anyone addressing the inmates as freaks." She said coldly.

The Warden normally would've fired any doctor on the spot for that, but Dr. Young was special because of her project and talents.

"Why of course I do, which is why you care about the well being of all the patients. So taking Dr. Crane should be great for you."

"Nice try, but that won't work."

The Warden sighed. "Penny, please take the case. Nobody else will and you are a tremendous doctor! You even believe anyone can be cured and if you take Crane's case, then I shall double your salary!"

The doctor's eyes widened. She didn't expect to hear that! It never happens in Arkham and rarely anywhere else.

"You really want me to take Crane?" She asked.

"Yes of course, but you need to make sure to give him extra treatment!"

Dr. Young thought about it. She already had The Riddler, The Joker, and Harleen Quinzel. Besides what harm could more patients do? It's not like they'll mess up her Titan Project!

"I accept the case then."

The Warden hugged her and practically had tears coming out of his eyes. "I thank you so much for this."

"Mr. Sharp get ahold of yourself." The Warden let go and crossed his arms. "You mentioned extra care. Could you explain what you mean exactly?"

"I'd like him to be your second project! Right next to the Titan Project!" Stated The Warden.

"Wait? You want me to put more care into this patient?!"

"You only need to extend the session times." Explained The Warden.

"Okay." She answered.

"He is tomorrow after the session with Mr. Nygma I believe. I trust that you will succeed!"

"Dr. Young smiled. "Of course sir, I believe that any patient can be cured if they are given the correct treatment."

"That's why I like you, Penny. You put the patient's care in front of your own! Except for the Titan Project doesn't count."

"Of course."

"Speaking of which, how is that going?"

"I have some of the notes right here actually." She showed the notes to him and was excited by what The Warden would say regarding the extremely hard and devoted work she was doing.

"Thank you." He looked through some of the notes and was quite pleased by what he saw. "I really like the work that is coming along. It's excellent and exactly what we need."

The Warden went over to a desk and sat down. He was very pleased with the results and now that these 'animals' could be finally cured in due time.

"I knew you would appreciate the results." Said Dr. Young.

"Yes, it is quite amazing." He handed the papers back to doctor young as he spoke. "I'm interested in how Bane is doing, or rather Patient X!" The Warden said with excitement.

"Everything is proceeding nicely, Mr. Sharp. We've had our good days and bad days with Bane, but that aside things are running just smoothly." Explained the doctor.

"Well, you keep up with the project and let me know about anything ese."

Dr. Young headed for the door, but The Warden had a few more things to say. He wanted to warn her about Johnathon Crane.

"There are a few things you should know about your new patient." Dr. Young gave the Warden eye contact. "The first thing is don't show fear or reveal any fears. That is how he usually takes over sessions and if you don't give that 'animal' control of your fears, then you'll be fine."

"I've read Dr. Crane's file and already know that, but don't worry if I can handle the Joker without going crazy, then I should be alright with the master of fear. I practically have nothing to fear!"

"Now Penny, don't underestimate him. He does have a reputation for making doctors go insane over short periods of time. The last doctor was one session!"

Dr. Young rubbed her chin. "I've heard of him, but don't worry I'll be fine!"

"I hope so." He looked at the clock and realized he had another appointment. "I have to talk to Mr. Wayne about upping our security in fifteen minutes! It's very important. If you want, I could see about getting some more funding from him for the Titan Project."

"Thank you, but I've got another funding and I don't need anymore."

She walked out of the Warden's Office and started thinking about her Titan Project. Perhaps she should go and see how Bane was doing? Dr. Young thought maybe she needed to up her experiments a little, so she went back to her office and began taking notes on several things they could do to Bane to ensure the best results. But after taking a few notes, she figured it was time to take a look at Johnathon Crane's file and see what all the doctors had written about him.

After a few minutes of reading, it appeared that all of the doctors that have had sessions with him considered the man a monster! Dr. Young knew better and was determined to find more about this patient.
